Plans for v21

I am keeping my plans for v21 conservative.

Bug fixes
  • Fix religion tech icons. First cut, just needs XML but may need to revisit some of the icons. in revision 1548
  • Movies - continue to make static movies for all wonders that don't have them. Move long movies to extras.
  • Move all movie definitions into core to avoid lost movie problem.
  • Great people - continue to identify GP who don't have a picture or are not linking to the correct picture.
  • Continue adding icons to the resources for the City screen resource list.
  • Continue to expand usage of resources.
  • Find out why you can't build Elephant Workers.
  • Remove the heal promotion from all but health care units. No one is building health care units any more since this promotion became available to all units.
  • Religion sounds.
  • Are there better animations for the wild giraffe, cattle and camel units?
  • ....

Modest improvements
  • Add new female missionary by SaibotLieh, for Voodoo religion. Done
  • Terrains for sea Polar, Temperate and Tropical. Using existing graphics this will allow better control of the wild sea creatures
  • Terrains for sea Ocean, Sea and Coastal. IE a new type of water terrain. This is big so I may not get to it.
  • Investigate moving some terrain features to resources - this will probably break save games so we may need to create a conversion step for people. EG coconut becomes a resource rather than a terrain feature.
  • Experiment with the new longitude parameters for animal spawn.
  • Move AAranda's wonders into core
  • Experiment with some buildings upgrading by the people like the events that provide pastures etc. but not quite.
  • Experiment with Cultural trade goods.
  • Experiment with diseases using the new (to be written) spread mechanism. Also look at replacing Multiple Religion spread with same.

Things I probably wont get to
  • Investigate having the food bay for the city show how much food will be saves when the population grows ie from granary etc.
  • Look into the mod that is supposed to add an airport icon to the city bar - find out why it is not working in C2C and see if we can extend it to change the defense graphic to indicate when you can attack with armies and not need more siege bombardment.
  • Second column for specialists in the city so we can merge stuff from WLBO - I have misplaced the code which had this partially working. :(
 
I still build them. I think they are an important part of the game. And why did healing promotions get brought back to normal units?

Only one did, besides the March one which should. There was a big discussion on it early after in v19 came out and that was the consensus.
 
I don't have specific plans, but in general I intend to focus on performance and improving the ai. Except where easily correctable issues are specifically pointed out to me, my modus operandi will be simply to play test games, and stop and analyze when I see the ai behaving in ways that are daily obviously improvable.

  • More Resources and related buildings.
  • Give new resources some stats. (Maybe)
  • More City Vicinity buildings.
  • Finish Sports Buildings
  • More Martial Arts Buildings (ex. Ninja Dojo)
  • Inventor Wonders (ex. Benjamin Franklin's Workshop, Tesla's Laboratory, etc)
  • More New Techs
  • More Craft Promotions (ex. Rhino Hide Armor)
  • Elite Unit Promotions
  • Planning out more Elite Units
  • Ordinances
  • Requesting more Events
  • Add Air Pollution and Water Pollution factors.
  • Apply Culture Resources to Buildings.
  • Add Housing Civic (Maybe)
  • Galactic Era Stuff
  • Alternate Timeline Stuff
  • Anything Else I Forgot

Note that anything that I get done from this for v21 will be an accomplishment. I cannot possibly do all of these for v21.
 
I miss Soap as early Improvement. And Soap Works as building, who generate Soap as Bonus. Soap will give a plus to health and culture in the late ancient or early medieval era...
 
uhhhhh sounds interesting, can't wait for the new version.

it would be great to have such a "plans for version xx" thread for every thread.
 
and have the current future plans (example V21 thread) stickied as well as the current bug list.

It would keep it organized, so that people wouldn't post as many bugs in the other threads.
