platonic love

Ive heard a lot of people on this forum say that they find relationships boring without having sex involved, even others saying that they believe that that is the whole point of a relationship in the first place. I would like to know your stance on platonic love and if the affection and care for each other in a relationship actually means anything, and is not just a means to sex.

From personal experience I find sex enjoyable, but all the time spent together and the love and affection mean a whole lot more to me, I could just as easily love my fiore the same without and of my "parts"(BTW, for reference, I am male).

Without sex, a relationship is nothing more than two room-mates.

Well that is true. The whole point of pair-bonding (ie a relationship) is reproduction, and that requires sex. Even if you're waiting to get married, the end goal is the same.

One way to put it -- there's a lot of warm tension involved when two people who are attracted to each other associate closely without physical consumation. Some people just happen to like that tension a lot (others find it annoying), and if they BOTH want to keep that tension going for their mutual pleasure, more power to them

That's not the only goal, but without sex, it's little more than two people who happen to know each other.

sex allows a couple to emotionally bond, it goes beyond more than just the physical act if love is involved. you cannot really know a person unless you have connected in that way
