Please Read: Welcome to the C-IV GOTM

I've only ever played one GOTM before and that was Civ 3 (and I think I won an ambulance award :) ).

Despite this I would like to have a go at WOTM07. Although Immortal is way way above my level I thought it might be useful as a learning tool.

However I am not quite sure what effect installing the HOF mod will have on my current games. I am currently in the middle of a succession game and I don't want to screw this up. Can anyone advise whether installing the mod will affect my current games ?

Thanks

I have two question:
first, I decide not to submit a xotm, so I feel free to see any relative spoiler thread?
second, I ask someone which VC he engages in private
, for we will not conflict.does it allowed?

Correct, of course.

You should play your own game, and you should not discuss it with other players outside the spoilers.

Sorry I did not see a better spot to post this problem. I am new to GOTM and started with HOF 1.74. I then wanted to play some of the older GOTMs and tried #19. However, it requires HOF Mod 1.61.11 (or something). So I d/l that Mod but it still will not start the game giving a message something like "this is a protected file to insure the assets of the MOD folder has not been modified". So I assume that means that since I had 1.74 in there that was the problem?

Is there something I can do to be able to play and look at saved games from older months? Thank you.

Do you have a dual install of vanilla 1.61 and 1.74? The recent GOTM before 21 were played in patch version 1.61, and to play those, you need a separate set of game files set up in the 1.61 patch, to go with the appropriate 1.61.0xx HOF mod.

If you don't have a dual install, details on that are listed in another thread ... I'll find the thread and link to it here shortly.

Thank you that worked.

I recently picked up the expansion pack "Beyond the Sword" and was wondering if there are plans for BtS GOTM? If so, when?

I wanted to play GOTM 25 but when I open it I saw that game will not be valide for HOF ... I should have selected lock asset management (hors something like that) ... how to do this ?

Are you referring to the warning in red text? That indicates that you can not play HOF with this game, which is irrelevant in this case. You can switch off the warning in the HOF-settings. If you can open the game, and play, you are all right.

Both Hall Of Fame games and Game of the Month games use the same mod, which is often called the HOF-mod.

You don't need to worry about that warning, it's for HOF use and not GOTM use (and if that is gibberish to you, just ignore it and play on, you're fine ;)).

If you are trying to imply that there has been silence for 100 days on the subject of BtS, I think that's a little harsh.

Since then, and in other threads, there *have* been further updates on the state of the BtS effort. I have indicated that I was working to include BtS into the submissions and results systems, and work has been done to release a BtS HoF Mod. We have also recruited more staff, and BtS was mentioned as one reason for that move.

I really did not mean to be harsh. Didn't intend it to be interpretted that way. I'm sorry. Thanks again Alan for everything you & the other staff are doing.

Hi guys.
I took two years off from Civfanatics GOTM to get some of my life back, but just installed Civ 4 and ran the patch for the HOF 1.74 and the patch so that when I look at about when the game loads the version is 1.7.4 FINAL RELEASE and Civ Version is 174 and Save Version is 103. Here is what happens when I try and run the GOTM25.

Run CIV4, select Single Player, select Load Game, Select the Save from the Civ Single Saves folder. Game informs me that it needs to reboot to load the mod.
Game reloads.
Game informs me that: "The file you have selected has been protected to ensure that the contents of your mods folder have not been changed."
The Game pops up a message: "Load Failed." And shuts down.

Load Game.
Choose Advanced, Load Mod, choose the HOF 1/74 Mod.
Game informs me it must reload. Click OK.
Game Reloads with the mod number in the upper right corner.
Game informs me that: "The file you have selected has been protected to ensure that the contents of your mods folder have not been changed."
The Game pops up a message: "Load Failed." And shuts down.

Please guys, any help would be appreciated, or please push me in the right direction, I am desperate to get back to playing the GOTM.
