PM Pop-up? and e-mail

Does this work? I have the option 'yes' for "pop up a box notifying you when you get a PM" but I have never seen such a message, while I'm very sure I was online upon receiving a PM.

Also, Is there a way to subscribe to a thread without receiving e-mails about it? I have e-mail notification off, btw.

The pop-up box for the PM's is not active. It was turned on a little while back, worked fine for some people, but others got 'ghost' pop-up's, so it was turned off again.

As far as emails and subscriptions go, to the best of my knowledge, you will receive an email if someone replies to a subscribed thread, even if email notificaiton is off. That is because subscribing turns email notification ON for that particular thread (that's what subscribing is).

The 'ghost' pop-ups were apparently for previous PMs the particular posters had received... For heavy PM users then, it would meant lots of pop-ups for previous PMs received. And these pop-ups come in their own time - sometimes a few in a day etc IIRC.

It was a hassle to clear them out, since lots of PMs had been passed around during the time the option's inactive.

I wonder if there is a way to have a PM box pop up with only the Quantity of PMs you have and it would say something like this:

"You have 1 Private Message in your Inbox"

Well it might be like i know phpbb is that way, so I'd bet vbull is as well.

The PM popup feature adds an additional query to each page so it's disabled.

Selecting yes for this option will cause the system to check the PM database every time a user loads a page, and will display a visible prompt for it.

We don't need that.

But that is NOT what subscribing should be, subscribing should only be that you get it in you subscribed thread list in your control panel. Not the mail aswell, UNLESS you got mail notifaction on. And if you turn mail notification off, you don't get subscriptions to the threads either

I, for some reason, don't get the CivFanatics mail any longer. But when I did I had a filter that moved all subscription mails right to my trashcan when they arrived.

I blocked the CFC address (sorry TF) for then I won't get the e-mails to subscribed threads anymore.
