Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I can't seem to find the answer in the search function.

When someone poisons your water, how long does it last and what can you do to fix it?

Thanks.

Not sure of the exact duration, but it usually recovers fairly quickly - something like a health point per turn. You can hover your cursor over the health icon in the city screen to see how many unhealthies you get from Poisoned Water and then check it again each turn.

You can't fix it directly, but you can always improve the overall health of your cities with health bonus buildings or trading for health resources. I don't worry about it too much as long as my city is not desperately starving.

edit: parking a spy in your city will lower the odds the AI has of successful spy missions in that city

Thanks Lymond! First time playing BTS, and the espionage and sabotage is obviously new to me. Add on top of that my first attempt at an SE, and my mind is very pre occupied. I'm building spies in all my villages now though ;) Kinda sucks, as I was stacking up troops to attack. Oh well, a couple more turns won't hurt ;)

Eight turns before full recovery on normal speed.

Building Security Bureaus / Bureaux also helps thwart enemy Spies. Running counter-espionage will make enemy espionage missions more expensive for them.

oh...and also destroying the AI that is constantly poisoning your cities severely limits their ability to do so. :)

I hate that Sitting Bull is Protective and has the totem pole. In general, though, that's another reason to clear your continent if you can.

I've found this to be unnecessary. I usually park a spy on a horse/iron/oil/aluminum/uranium resource if I only have 1. And keep a spy in cities that are building space ship parts. But that's about it. Having a spy in every city and sending spies to perform counter espionage is overkill in my opinion.

I believe the Security Bureau (or is it the other one?) makes the spy in your cities unneccesary. These problems are another argument in favor of an EE. I'll have to try that sometime.

Well, I just built a spy for each city. No big deal since they're so cheap. I parked 'em and every turn one or two of them thwarted an enemy spy around one of my cities. They sabotaged a cow farm (poor cows) once, but that and the poisoned water was about it. I had the espionage slider at 20% and that seemed to quell the problem....not sure if that's the best way to go about it.
It's a neat little infusion into the game....obviously designed to slow down the human economy by attempting to divert monies away from troops and research.
On a side note, the SE economy I attempted was successful as I have a huge tech lead at the moment. Looking closely at it though, it appears to be somewhat of a hybrid CE/SE though. Following your guys' recommendations though, I have greatly increased my GP birth rate. Thanks a ton.

Bureau has the same function as spy for anti-EP and doesn't stack. Given that it also raises EP costs it's better all around if you have the :hammers:.

Doing that + counter espionage mission against the AI makes it a lot harder to cause EP damage. If the AI ran counter-EP missions espionage would not be very viable in this game.
