It's probably been asked before, but I couldn't find a topic on it, if you know one then just link me to it please.

This is the first game that I've played that's been region locked. Well does anyone know to any degree of accuracy what regions are the most populated and more specifically which region is 'the' most populated. And lastly, which english speaking region is most populated if the former is a non-english speaking region.

I've tried uk London and us New york and one or two others, but those two I assumed would maybe have the most people on, however I saw a statistic today posted on my clans forum giving the steam player peak for games during the day with civ having almost 26,000 playing. So surely at least 1000 were doing multiplayer, well what I would have thought were the two most busy regions having what I could only imagine being 25 people max in the lobby at any one time... where are they all lol?

Steam still filters games list by ping, no matter what region you change your cloud/download region too. If you want to hook up with other MP players come to the Civplayers Steam lobby www.civplayers.com and click on the Chatroom(steam req) on the left side menu.

Steam lets us get around the regional ping filtered games list by letting us use the steam app to join games and be invited to games by the host. Just ask anyone in chat how it works and they will be glad to help.

I did join civ players awhile back, but I never seem to see more than 5 people in the chat room, but I may start using it more often anyway.

Is there a way to manually remove the filter or low the requirements for servers?

Yes sometimes there is not alot of players, but I hang out their alot, and the problem is players come in say hi, and then leave, if everyone stayed there would be lots of players and games :-/

I didn't realize changing your steam server had no effect? I think my server is set to Toronto or Montreal Im not sure tbh i havn't looked but occasionally when i visit the public lobby i find the odd person from Europe. So if changing server doesn't work why have the option? I imagine if what you say is true then a player from southern Ontario has invited a friend from europe.

To answer the original question: Im on the Canada-Toronto server and it is quite populated with English speaking players most evenings(5pm and later in EST).
