Possibilities for GOTM 5

I think it might be interesting to get one of the real 'high-rollers' (i.e. Shadowdale or Kev) to do the start-up. That is, if they're willing to share some of their secrets...

But just for the record, I don't mind the occasional GOTM accelerated start-up, no matter who does it.

B]

What I'd like is ALL of their save files (like every turn) for one of their games, and about a month to study them

just kidding, of course. Actually this Deity game has been a very good challenge for me, like I haven't really had in Civ for awhile, so I'm happy even if my scores aren't as high as some others.

The reason that I suggested accelerated startups is for two reasons, the main reason being time: I would really like to play GOTM#5 but am worried about time issues.

Second reason is that we are trying to play games that are similar to compare them and the acceleraed startp makes all the games we play more alike. If theire is no accelerated startup then we are all playing completely different games just with the terrain and rules.

OK Leowind - do you want the savegames at the beginnin of the turn or at the end of the turn???

Sxythots has sent me some *really cool* maps he made. We might use one of those maps for GOTM #5......such as this map! How's that for a GOTM?

Looks great, but make it a King-level game then. The map seems to be really hard, you know. I don't think I'll be able to build up a nice empire on this map, especially not on higher levels than King.

Wow, wow, wow... I think it's a nice thought to have a map with weird dimensions, but I'm really against maps with foreknowledge!

I like the map - no doubt about that but I have to agree with Matrix: I don't like GotM to be played on know maps!!!

And this one should still be a prince level game.........

There are probably lots of players for whom that would NOT be a "known" map.

Just after every single decision. You know, like every time you move a single unit, everytime you move a worker in a city, or change production orders, like that. yeah
And then you can come work both my jobs for a month so I'll have time to study them all.

Hmmmm that might be a bit to much - but let's say that I make you a savegame after every 10 turns and then Zip them all together and mail them to you??

But if I do that I probably won't play a very long game.......

I am glad I found this game of the month forum and I look forward to playing June's GOTM. When will it start?

BTW, TF I love that map! I think we all started there once before. Our starting location was the "womb" of course.

Actually, from a play point of view that map could be tough.I don't see any resources and the areas that are decent for empire building are kinda small.I definetly would be building some explorers to get that map uncovered ASAP
wink.gif

Can someone post a copy of that map sumwhere? I wanna try playing it.

Yeah, TF, put it in the downloads section! I wanna play it too!
