This is a story i heard on the news on tv here. I tried looking for it online, on an english source, but couldnt, so i will post the link to a cypriot online mag (i couldnt find it anywhere else, however it was also on state tv in Greece) and the piece about it there, and then translate it:

The story, in greek: ---Συνελήφθη ο ύποπτος της δολοφονίας του ιερέα ---
Έναν 16χρονο που θεωρείται ύποπτος για τη δολοφονία του 60χρονου ιταλού καθολικού ιερέα Αντρέα Σαντόρο στην Τραπεζούντα συνέλαβε η τουρκική αστυνομία. Η αστυνομία εντόπισε και συνέλαβε τον ύποπτο με τη βοήθεια βιντεοταινίας από κάμερα ασφαλείας καταστήματος, που βρισκόταν δίπλα από την εκκλησία όπου έγινε το έγκλημα.
Ο 16χρονος θα οδηγηθεί ενώπιον της δικαιοσύνης ενώ άγνωστο παραμένει αν η δολοφονία του ιερέα συνδέεται με τις εκδηλώσεις διαμαρτυρίας στον μουσουλμανικό κόσμο για τα σκίτσα του Μωάμεθ.

--- The suspect of the murder of the priest has been arrested ---
A 16yearold who is considered a suspect for the murder of the 60year old italian catholic priest Andrea Santoro, in Trebizond, was arrested by the turkish police. The police found and arrested the suspect with the help of the footage from a security camera in a store, which was next to the church where the murder took place.
The 16year old will be brought to justice, while it remains unknown whther the murder of the priest is linked with the mass protests in the muslim worlds against the cartoons of Mohammad.

On the news it was also mentioned that the 16year old claims that indeed the murder (which he confessed doing) was triggered by the anti-islamic cartoons.
Ofcourse this may not be the real reason for it, however that was his own claim.
