Renaming a civ is pretty easy. You just have to find the right entry in one of the XML files (Civilizations something) in assets/XML/text

I'll try renaming them next time I play, thank you for the suggestion. It would probably be similarly easy to change their banner image. I'm still curious if anyone's thought of how to divide them into multiple civs such as Danes, Norwegians, and Swedes.

Replacing graphics (with an existing one) is not hard either.
Adding new graphics is pretty easy too.

Anybody willing to take a stab at the ancient Shu kingdom - the pre-Han kingdom based around Sanxingdui?

There's not a massive amount of information about them and a lot of the discoveries are recent. They were a bronze age culture that flourished around 3,000-3,500 years ago.
From looking at their artifacts, the Taizong leaderhead might be a good base to start from
