Post Short Single Player Tips Here

This is the simplest trick ever posted here, even if you played civ for only 1 hour you know it:

Save the game before you declare war!

Reloading is generally frowned upon though.

Build lots of stealth bombers and constantly bomb a couple of their cities for 2-3 turns. Eventually all their defenders will die, and you can take a city with just a few ground units.

If you plan to go to war with someone who has Nukes, first use air units to destroy all roads to Uranium and other strategic resources.

Unless you have lots of mpps and alliances using nukes is asking for troble :( . Unless you have lots of mpps and alliances and are planning to actully USE your nukes, the manhatten project is a waste of time.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Get the AI on your side, unless you don't care if they hate you. Also, don't build Manhattan Project at all, unless you need nukes. The AI will build it eventually

Here's a tip that everyone should know. The United Nations can not only be used for holding an election but also for preventing one.

when in peace with all others,at later stages of game
when you have old established cities produce settlers and start new cities
then in all other cities produce stealth bombers (usually 2 or three turns)
-transfer newly built stealth to new city and disband-this will increase production in new city and will speed up production of whatever they are building. soon (if no war) these new cities will have all improvements and can produce war items on there own

all ocean cities should produce battleships and send these units to engulph your ocean borders and your ememies borders. no one gets in or out of their ports

Privateers can be used to spy on your rival's coastal cities, and to intercept 'settlers in a ship'

Start a game build a city first turn, next turn resign. When the game goes to the event screen click forward a turn and you'll you will see the map and the start locations of the AI civs. Now reload the game and hey presto you now have an idea about the map and know the start location of AI if you want to meet them quick and trade techs

You should always do that!

If that seems fair to you then you could save time by making your own map. Then you can look at anytime you want.

And you can use Dave82's trick to find unsettled islands and to have an idea where your galleys can get and were they can't.

Edit: But yes, it's not fair to do this.

For ages I never built Privateers. But then I discovered that if you build a fair amount of them, you can prevent the AI from exploring - and thus getting to resources and making new cities - by sinking their ships.

This only works to a certain extent, and you cannot stop them all, but the important thing is to slow down your nearby neighbors. Also not very useful on Pangea maps.

Normally, injured units won't heal in an AI's territory.

However, there are 2 exceptions (at least):

1. If you have a Right Of Passage agreement with the AI, the unit WILL heal!

2. Under C3C, an Army's Units WILL also heal, even if you're in the enemy's territory with no ROP agreement! ;)

Units will also heal in enemy territory if you have built the Battlefield Medicine small wonder, which requires 5 hospitals.

privateer is also a great way to make your friends crazy in a multiplayer game.. u just tell them: "It's not me, it's the AI!" ;)

When i play, i build lotsa nukes, but i never use any of them, theyre mostly for deterrent, and they look cool.

Anyway, i always try to advance as fast as possible, keeping the tax rate at a bare minimum. After i get to mass production i cut research to a minimum, and make a huge army to murder the obselete enemy defenders with an army of infantry, tanks, and artillery, WWII style.

Aurora, you are every US president since 1945 (except for the first one, harry truman; i guess we all owe him a debt of education!)

no tip here...i just read that post and laughed my arse off!

Never, never, NEVER automate your workers. :nono:

Proper worker management is the key to success at any level above Warlord. The computer does not prioritize tasks properly or know how to stack workers for one-turn improvements.
