Roosvelt.

Yeah, Roosevelt. None of the rest, anyway. :P

Yeah, Roosevelt. None of the rest, anyway. :P

Thats what I love about holding these. They help me focus and plan my game, and they also teach me a lot about election history. I obviously learn a lot more than what I summarize in the voting information, plus I change some stuff due to the alternate history of my game (for instance, Thomas R. Marshall actually died before, in the game, he became president. But I extrapolated that if he had White House medical care he would have survived). For instance, look up the election of 1876 and look how close the vote was. The Democrats used intimidation to keep blacks from voting, and the Republicans used fraud to win over states. Keep in mind, modern day Demo-Repubs, that the parties were way different back then.

Looks like I should just make the election 10-12 hours long.

1938
The Cristo Redentor is constructed overlooking the city of San Francisco. Parallel to this construction is a San Francisco law that has recently been pushed, the Thomas-Browder Amendment. Platforms on which candidates debate for are easier to put into effect. In effect, politicians who wish to drastically change an aspect of American life can put their changes into effect without overthrowing the government, making third party candidates much more important in American politics.
1939
Mexico asks to join the United States, but Franklin D. Roosevelt declines stating it would hurt relations with other Latin nations.
