Just curious since in the cities skylines thread people were forced to run at lowest settings. I know a lot of forumgoers are old school gamers and thus don't need high end pcs, or are students and can't afford high end pcs :p

So let's do an informal survey just to see what people are rolling with! I will list the questions I would ask but you can post whatever you want (if you didn't build your pc yourself you may not know answers to a lot of these questions, main ones are cpu, ram and gpu).

Pruchased: 2010
Upgraded: 2012 (second harddrive), 2014 (new gpu, more ram)
Prebuilt or homebuilt: Homebuilt
CPU: i5-760
Mobo: asus p7p55lx
GPU: palit sonic platinum gtx 460 originally, sapphire amd radeon r9 270 replacement
RAM: 12 gb gskill ripjaw ddr3 (2x2gb originally and 2x4gb added)
PSU: corsair modular 650w psu
HD1: seagate momentus 500 gb hybrid drive with 4 gb flash cache
HD2: western digital 7200 rpm 1 tb
Case: Antec Illusion 300

This is the second pc I've built. First one I built when I graduated college in 2006. By 2010 that one was a complete dog despite having spent like $1200 building it. By contrast this pc here cost around $900 and 4 years later was still plenty capable of handling even brand new games as long as I turn off MSAA. The only reason I upgraded the gpu was because gtx 460 died :( Was a sad day, that was a great card. I added a second harddrive when all the steam games I never play filled the first, and more ram in preperation for dragon age inquisition! Which I still haven't bought but hey now I can open like 500 chrome youtube tabs simultaneously!

I absolutely love my case. It's not the quietest thing ever cus it has 4 fans built in, but it's fine and the fans glow with blue leds and airflow is awesome. I'm not sure I'll do any more upgrades. I would really like to get another 4 years out of it and then build a new one, but if that's not possible I see the cpu being the next bottleneck.

This reminds me that there is a section in your profile for adding hardware. I have replaced all of mine since I last updated that

Also I happen to have mine filled out on PCPartpicker: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/nKKmK8

Maniacal and I have the same exact PSU. Corsair TX650; it's served me well. We also have identical RAM in the G. Skill DDR3 1600, 8 GB. Those are pretty similar to civvver's RAM/PSU, too.

Other than that, my current main rig (third since joining CFC) is a bit newer than civvver's, and a bit older than Maniacal's. I built it in late 2011. The other specs are:

Build date: Late 2011. Upgrades: Larger SSD, 212 Evo CPU cooler (mid-2014). Replacements: Toshiba 2 GB HDD replaces failed WDD (mid-2013)
First self-built PC

Gigabyte Z68 mobo (don't remember the exact model)
Core i5 2500k; currently lightly OC'ed.
ATI Radeon 6870 (Sapphire)
240 GB MX-100 SSD (replaced 80 GB Intel 320 series)
2 TB, 7200 RPM Toshiba HDD
2 TB, 5400 RPM WDD HDD (backup - other one of these failed)
Antec P280 case
Blu-Ray drive, plus DVD drive (2 total)

I've been happy with it. The P280 is a very quiet case, even at load. My need for faster GPUs has been slowing down, so the 6870 still does what I need well. I suspect the GPU will be the next upgrade, though - I could increase my mild overclock by another 600 - 800 MHz if I needed a CPU boost. The cooler upgrade last summer was mainly for the sake of cooler temperatures and increased longevity, not needing more performance then.

I'm posting this from my previous main rig, a Dell Inspiron 1520. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't play Skylines in an acceptable fashion, but many good Civ3 and Civ4 games have been played on it, and it's been used for LAN duty as recently as yesterday. I did acquire an HP EliteBook to replace it for LAN parties last winter, but when you have two people over who didn't bring a laptop, it's time to bring out all the halfway recent hardware you have.

My PC doesn't really have an age since the parts are all over the place in age. The case is from 2006, CPU/Mobo/RAM from 2013, IDK how old the GTX 470 is since I got it from a friend when he upgraded, power supply from 2012. SSD is from December when my 1TB died, and the 500GB HDD is from like 2008?
