#4, 7, 11, 13 will kill you if you come to Japan. Those are all considered normal here and to not do them (or agree with them) will get you criticized and shunned.

#18 is for sure a lame thing. Someday Starbucks will surpass Wallmart as the most evil monopoly in the world unless people realize it is not cool to drink those ultrahigh caffeine drinks. Starbucks will eventually blow past Microsoft for richest company in the world. I hate seeing cool little shops selling bread, pizza, hamburgers and ice cream that were around for decades being taken over by useless Starbucks.

It is unpopular to care for the environment in Japan?

#18 Starbucks is simply lame, and I don't doubt it will surpass Microsoft and Wallmart as riches corporation in the world. Unfortunately they kill smaller, better shops as you said, which pisses me off.

There is no environment in Japan. You can take the Shinkansen from one big city to another and never once ever see a piece of land with none of their dull, grey shacks and office buildings on it. Sure there are a few hills and mountains with no buildings on them here and there in Japan but even should you go walking on them you can never be alone. To climb Mount Fuji for example, you literally line up as you would to buy tickets to a new Arnold movie and shuffle along with the crowd.

To go somewhere with nice nature, nothing beats North America. If you live there, lucky you cause there's no need to go anywhere else.

Wow, I am truly sorry to hear that. :( I knew Japan was pretty built-up, but didn't realize it was that bad. It is a shame people in North America don't even realize how beautiful it is here because they can't take the time to admire the landscape, I just hope it doesn't become like you described anytime soon. Some wouldn't mind it though  They'd pave every blade of grass if taxes allowed for the cost.

1) Friends who are in a relationship and can't keep their hands of each other when around me.
2) People who pull fire alarms or set off smoke detectors doing dumb things.
3) Friends who come to with an "I'm bored what do you want to do" attitude but don't actually want to do anything I suggest.
4) Friends who play WOW 24/7.

Take a trip up North to Lake Towada. Japan has plenty of greenery and natural beauty.

Journalists, and I use the word loosely, lacking professionalism.

As an example, I recall an article not long ago in the Kansas City Star about President Bush coming to town. This was a front page article, and they went on about how he didn't even visit Gate's Barbeque and even used the line "what's up with that?" in the article. This is supposed to be a respectable metropolitan/regional newspaper, not an MSN chat session.

I never knew that. I thought it had to do with the habit of how the entire nation drives their cars. I tend to walk on the right sides of the sidewalk/hallways because I am used to the traffic going in that fashon. I guess if I do visit Japan that I would have to think like a British (Drive/Walk on the left side). The rest of what you stated I agree and do them, though I still to this day have trouble reading outloud since I do tend to stumble and a bit shy reading outloud .

Somehow, reading about the Shinkasen would put Amtrak's Acela to shame, especialy on the section of rails where I live which is a nasty part of the Northeast Corridor which realy slows down the Acela.

I guess I consider myself lucky to be living in an area with nice nature, especialy living close to Long Island Sound as well as living within walking distance to many State Parks. Often times, I just take a drive to the side roads just to have my mind wander into nature just to escape the city seanery.
