Poster clues

Maybe they are setting up Civ V so that the Civ who goes into space become the humans in StarCraft?
That would be a very interesting development! I remember how FIFA and Football Manager merged, and how they merged The Sims and SimCity once. I never really played StarCraft, but interesting, and maybe I will start playing StarCraft by then :)

Perhaps the Motte and Bailey will be the pre-Industrial Era fort graphic - the current one is pretty hideous (and looks bizarrely anachronous in the early game).
I could imagine this could be the point. I believe they all have a connection since I find these inclusions into the poster to be weird ones. Why put in two DLCs that no even everyone have tried. None of my friends know what it is.

We have the cities changing by the ages (or is that just as sizes changes), the general and admiral change, so why not the fort. Now, why has the masoleum been added

Firaxis and Blizzard would have to agree on it first before the winner of the space race becomes the Terrans.

However, it will not be likely, as Firaxis and Blizzard are fierce competitors (and are the top two names in strategy video games, not counting EA's C&C).

Yes, Blizzard games have their own online-only DRM (that is not Steam), although the other half of the poster looks like proto-Terran Marines (though it can be quite a stretch).

How did Starcraft get mixed into this

idea! what if the people in the background are the clue... in their names possibly?

Wu
Isabella
George
(XCOM people)

or

China
Spain
America
(Xcom people)

I don't know, those letter orders don't reveal anything immediately, and I don't know the names of XCOM people (someone help please!)
they could be reordered, backwards, whatever
Just some randomness for ya

C...S...America. It's the Confederacy!

Damn, the Civil War scenario was right there in front of us the whole time as well. We should have seen it.

coincidence? almost definitely. Confederacy would be the worst pick in the history of civ.

At any rate, does anyone know then names of those xcom fellows on the poster?

Xcom soldiers have random names. Looks like the classes are heavy, sniper (?) and assault though.

I see. Well that spells HSA, useless, or ASH, still pretty useless

wait, ash?

pokemon

Hoenn confirmed

Has anyone mentioned this; In the pic someone posted that showed the fort with the dock being built by a Portuguese worker, there is a French city in the background with three of the chateau things around it and a fourth being built. I guess that makes it a terrain improvement.

Is there any other thread where the motte-and-bailey is being discussed?

A thought just occurred to me. In civ4 the ship of the line was a generic anti - frigate unit (much like the grenadier was a generic anti-rifleman unit).

Perhaps England have been altered so that their ship of the line UU has been made generic (many have spoken of the fact that ships of the line were historically generic) and replaced with the motte and bailey UI. England do seem to have the best historical claim for this improvement out of the civs currently represented, and the Normans seem like a long shot.

So would jolly old England get another facelift? And how would the motte and bailey come into play for the BNW features?

I have no idea. Just bouncing thoughts on the chance that the poster clue has some kind of prominence.
