I do all my work with MSPaint, then I convert to pcx and set the transparent colours with GIMP.

Were should I download to? I looked in all the art files, not very well

First rename the original fireworks.flc to orgfireworks.flc

Unzip the balloon.zip file, change the name of balloons.flc to fireworks.flc and place it in the above folder.

Unzip the balloon.zip file, change the name of balloons.flc to fireworks.flc and place it in the above folder.

You can also drop an animations folder into the Art folder of any scenario or mod you're playing or building, so that you don't have to change the fireworks animations for your entire game, and have a different one for each mod....I copy the original fireworks folder into the new Animations file and put the Balloons.flc into the fireworks folder. Then I change the Fireworks.ini (with Notebook) to use the Balloons instead of the fireworks. Works just as well.
