Pre-PC computers

My first computer was an MSX computer by Philips, must be like 15 years ago that my parents bought it. It was mostly used as a gamecomputer. My brother and I must have spend 1000s of hours playing the thing and then it suddenly broke down. Quite a shock actually!
So what was the first computer you guys owned? Bring on the memories!

1995 i got a 33mhz macintosh, my first civilization experience!
1997 i bought a vintage C-64 for £20, ahh...
1999 i got one 90mhz PC and one 133mhz PC

Mine was an Apple II got what seems like a long time ago. I can only remember playing text adventures. Was Zork on it?

the first video game system I remember using was an ATARI. My dad purchased about 3 of them over the course of a few years because they kept overheating. First true computer system was a VIC-20, then a Commadore 64! man the good old days of typing in your own game from the back of a magazine or playing a game off of a tapeplayer (made for the computer of course).

Suggestion: i think there a lot more people that would like to gab with you on a sunject like this in the programming and tech forum. Just a suggestion.

ZX-81.
Bought it almost exactly 20 years ago. I never had a machine later I've programmed so much with. First PC came out about the same time, with no indications of becoming the future home computer standard. It was a weird and wonderful time, with hundreds of different computer types in the stores, none of them able to run the same programs or even with backward-compatibility. Only program you got as standard with the box, was the (usually BASIC) compiler/interpreter. Word processor? Games? Go write your own.

I was just a small child, so I don't remember so well about the machines my family had.
Amstrad, this was a great computer, for a small kid like me...
Commandore 64, King of computers, it was bought while I lived in Canada(I live in Finland before it, and after it). We even bought an electric transforer or something to make it work back here in Finland.
Amiga 500, this was a great machine, while the pcs sucked in gaming.

Atari was my first game system. That was followed by the C-64. What a machine! Zork absolutely rocked! Nothing was scarier then having your lantern start to burnout in a dark area. Red Storm Rising was another awesome game.

Speaking of nostalgic, I was recently thinking back to the old days of calling individual bulletin boards. Wasn't it WWIV that was one of the systems? I ran one part time for a while. Imagine that today, A part time website.

VERY long ago, I played on "Iskra-226" computer of my father in TB-Strategy KLINGS.
My first real computer was Macintosh Plus in 1991. It have not any strategic game, just actions or advenrures.

Hmm..I never had a pre-pc..unless atari 2600 counted. Pitfall RULED! I did play some games on my friend commodore64..nothing too memorable. We also played tons of Oregon Trail at school on the PET.

My first computer was the original PC. Anyone play the original Wolfenstein? Man..I would nearly sh*t my pants when I heard those SS coming. I panicked trying to remember how to throw those grenades. Ahh..the memories.

Pitfall was a good game. I actually have an Atari 2600 that still works. Got it in the marriage. I also have to hold a special place for O-Trail. wandering in the wilderness hunting on the Apple IIE at school. I also played a game called Anam on the TSR computers our school had. It was about the confilct in Vietnam and you were the South Vietnam dictator. You could ask the US for troops and bhudists would burn themselves on your steps. A truely simple game from way way way back. It figures into my stories about walking uphill in the snow to school with no shoes.
