taking down France next sounds like the best move, we cant get our armies off that continent anyway.

i think with those 2 cities built on the resources we should rush harbors there, or at least on one of them, depends on whether you prefer horses or swords, in the other city we could slow build the harbor until we get chivalry or otherwise decide we need both of the resources and then rush it.

as far as being a republic, i agree with that move, i think nerovats revolted, we have 3 lux on our home continent, taking over Persia nets 2 more for a total of 5. As long as wars are not too drawn out there should WW problems we can't handle. the extra commerce will really come in handy.
 
If you traded the incense to france it´ll cost us our rep if we start a war, but I don´t think we need that anymore. When I´m not mistaken we´ll have 6 luxes after france which means we can grow all our cities to size 12, more then enough. This should be over well before 1000AD.

We really should think about disbanding the cats as they are useless.

what did the french have that you were bombing cats with, pikes?

i would prefer to upgrade the cats rather than disband, of course if we get riders soon the trebs would just slow down our armies.

any thoughts / ideas / suggestions before i take my turns?
 
French have muskets, which defend with 5, all cities have walls. But still we should get a 1 out of 3 hit rate. When attacking france again make sure to pillage their salpeter. Maybe we could attack maya to farm elites/leaders. We must grown our cities beyond size 6 to reduce army cost. Someone transformed a lot of irrigated tiles to mined ones, we can do that when we can´t grow anymore.
 
sorry, guys, work is unreal this week & i am going to have to take a skip, the earliest i could play is sunday, i had to work long hours today and will have to do so tomorrow and saturday as well.
 
kind of disappointed that this game wasnt picke dup when i asked for a skip a few days ago, but i should have pointed out whose turn it was, anyway, i was finally able to play today, i might have to ask for a skip again next week depending upon when the turn gets back around to me. I work in the manufactured housing industry and right now the plant i work for is working very hard to build emergency housing for people who need homes due to hurricane Katrina, more hours than I want right now.

Anyway, when I downloaded the turn whatever day that was I looked at the save long enough to change some builds & make a couple lux trades, saved before ending the turn & exited. Then the next day I realized I would not be able to play the turnset anytime soon, so I threw away the log where I had wrote down all my build changes. Mostly, I changed libraries to markets, mainly because markets help with happiness as well as income & i thought perhaps research will be turned off soon.

Nerovats, I disagree with your assessment that the grass tiles in the north should be irrigated for growth instead of mined for production, all those cities need 100 shield aqueducts & will simply get stuck at 6 citizens with 5 excess food & 3 shields, so I continued mining most of those irrigated tiles to get aqueducts, cities will still max out at 6 citizens before those builds are finished.

Military wise I spent most of the turn session remiving all our units from the Persian Province to a spot outside Beijing so that a possible attack could be made on the Mayans.

Okay, I finally got most of our units over to where they can be moved to Maya if we elect to go there, I think we should. Menawhile we can build Riders & prepare for an attack on France or America, both seem to be heavy wonmder builders right now, a good chance to catch up militarily. America has the Great Lighthouse, perhaps we should capture it? I think we shgould use our now obsolete units to take out the Mayans and then the Vikings while markets & aqueducts finish. When Persian cities get some courthouses built, perhaps we can pump out some settlers from there & ICS the region as well as the island in the north & any other islands we capture.

well, i cant say whether or not he is gone, but on the 13th i took a skip, i think that was a wednesday, he would have been up but never picke dup the turn, i managed to play myself on sunday & i thought since i had not specifically stated who was up maybe that was the reason he had not picked it up. But, after i played on sunday there was still no response on tuesday night, so i posted the swap. i sent him a pm & he still has not responded. if he does happen to respond i will let him back into the game of course, but for now it is just the three of us. i will give him a full rotation & then i will prolly post for an additional player unless for some reason we think the game is nearly over, which it could be if we net a lot of leaders for armies, the rider means our GA is just around the corner . . .
 
This game doesn´t have to take that long anymore. Just the French are to strong now. We can take out the others then come back for the french. Maybe we won´t even have to do that as we might have reached domination by then.

as long as the French dont get mil trad & wipe out our persian assets first
 
MT is still far far away.
By the we should have taken out some other civs. Maybe we can get france as an ally again to try and keep research down.

how do you know it is far away? we dont know for certain how far ahead the AI are, do we? Of course, we can instantly catch up by capturing the Great Library.

btw, how's your training game going, I lurked for awhile, but haven't had time lately.
 
It's partly a gues, and I forgot we were trailing in techs. MT is a long way for us. French are researching fast now because they can trade with others. If we make france declare on them it will probably more then half science rate. Then MT is a long way for them too, for sure.

Training is going ok, but people keep making same mistakes. I try not to be too rude, maybe I should be a bit more confronting. I played ahead to be able to let team compare their progress to mine. Will post a 1000BC screenshot when team catches up, should be rather shocking :D . Then try to explain why they are that far behind. Maybe that will help them wake up.

What about their GA, it is certainly available to them now, have they had it, are they in it, do we have any idea?

we know they at least have gunpowder, IIRC isn't only 4 techs along that line to MT?

just double checked, it's only 3: chemistry, metallurgy, & MT. The wonders that were being built seem to indicate a lot of the other branches have been researched. I dont think MT is as far away from the french as you think it is, it's just a matter of if they head for it now or get distracted by the optionals. Admittedly, i am weak in determining MA research tendencies because in my game experiences I have never been able to able to pinpoint any consistency, but it is reasonable they could have it long before we finish off everyone else.
 
The French won a battle with a musket so they must have started their GA during my turnlog. We'll see how far we get. We should have gunmen too before the french get MT. We can aslo keep them happy so they won't attack us. Trade maybe even gift stuf.
