Predictions of US Soccer

Ok good :) only some 8 hours ahead of me, shouldn't be too hard to catch the games. Also a note on how soccer is blowing up in america, over in memphis we've got a huge multi million dollar soccer(football  :p) complex, it has something like 15 soccer fields, its quite nice :goodjob: wish we had fields like that when i played :(

You know, it's only a real football complex when it's hugely government funded...

ok i'm glad i can get clarification cause i don't know what the hell he's talking about

They (Real Madrid) sold their training grounds to the government and then the Spanish government built them a new training ground. Conveniently clearing most of Real's debt.

nice

I think the US will become a real (oops) world force in footie. Everyone I know over there says they prefer their kids to play footie when young - fewer injuries - and a lot of those will stay with the game. There have been many attempts to get a professional league going over there that is something more than parading a few has-beens around and there have been many false dawns but I think the time is getting close now. Even Becks and Posh have been feted over there this week. And a kid called Brooklyn cant do US footie any harm either. ;)

As SZ says, people are building major footie facilities, - and once people realise that you can earn as much as Michael Jordan in footie too, then it will take off in a big way.

We will really have a WORLD cup when all the major nations of the world play the worlds finest sport.

It happens all over Urop nowadays. Bad thing.
In the US the sport can take an example on the major sports (commercially, responsibility (law) and such things), and they can build it from scratch. Huge advantage. As long as they don't come up with strange things like 'drafting', otherwise they won't attract good European players.
Even if only a small percentage of the youth stays with the sport, that'd still mean a huge quantity of players. 'Hot prospect'!

Whatever you want to call it, it is the 3rd most popular youth sport in the US and most of us who are under the age of 35 have played it.

Hmm. 3 months ago Redking tried to persuade me of the opposite. It was an old post in "creation and customization" forum. It was called "football mod". I'd post here the link if the search wasn't disabled

19... er... 200... Hmm...18... well okay: the Netherlands are a real class team and those who know me also know that it is my second favourite NT! :goodjob:

On topic (now we have a mod that actually comes here :p ): the USA are already a team to take into consideration for future WCs. Not for the top spots yeat, but there has been an evolution and they have caused many troubles to better teams on paper.
And with 300 million inhabitants there may be a time in a not so distant future where they might reach a similar level to that of the best european and south american teams.
