long involved story tellig of how the Kingdom of Rome survied, how constantine never bacame emperor to disband the preatorian guard who were more or less quarantined as a military unit to inside rome Rome by diocletion and how they would eventually evolve into a centerpeice force on the ROman battle feild helping to preserve what frontir Rome had left later, oh yea, and the westenr empire is mithraic, all will come later)

A)each nation is broken up into subunits, being either feudal feifs, or Themes/Marches

B)a Feif is the essential unit of most of the mermanic kingdoms, the t contribute soldires in addition to the Royal army; even the capital feif has its own corps of troops seperate from that of the royal army, these troops can be called upon, as long as thier duckes are willign to send them, to go anywhere, adn serve in any action, be ti defence, offence, helpign an ally, whatever, however, feifs themselves are not permantlely part of you kingdom- they can be lured away, though its generally very hard to do so- you really have to piss them off for them to even be willing to consider changing, or, you could be losing a war badlly...

though its just as possible to get the feifs happyer with you as well 9gifts of money into a dukes private acounts can you far...)

to halp tell just how a feif is feeling, there will be a percentag eof how happy they are with your rule, when the game starts, every feif will be at 50%, because hey,t he game just started and all that, they have to get used to how you will lead them and what not...

C)a Theme/march is a different bugger- imagien these as a "super feif", excpet instead of being under control of a noble, they are under the direct control of the Monarchy- in other words, no chance of rebellion... they also start with, and generate more troops then feifs do, however, not all is glorios- themes and marches are formed primarilly for the defence of you empire, nto the offence, and as such, the troops have limited movement, thematic/marche troops can move into any territoy adjacent to them, and nothing more, if they border the ocean, and the theme/marche has ships, then they can cross the sea to any theme/march or feif ont he water- btu nothing more.

let me give an example of a nations stats (remember, this is just an example, i have decided exact stats yet)

I think you guys get the pint, right?

yes, there will be a speacial bonus for each nation, some will be militart; eg the Byzantinesd will ge tone in which thier troops count double in number agianst Bulgars and Russians, other might be more exploration...

yes, that right, explration... this is the middle ages, at the beginnign fo the rebuilding of civlization; most of the map is balnked out, and you will ahve spend money on explores to go expore, the longet the distance, and depending on th wher,e the more expenisive it will be to make major progress...

and no, the map istn finsihed even it what can be seen yet,t he arab world, as well as soem of northern europe needs either more nations, or more feif dvision in it

beaceaus the map, as I said before if you would have read, is not finished yet ;)

OOC: Joesph, why don't u wait and see wat the other nations look like.

Id join this, looks good.

all the nations on the map are all the stsrting nations- so no chinba, no mongols, no India, no mali, no Zulu- essentially, it just the western world- some fo the people who join as soem of the eastern more nations will get a bit of the map reveald, i havent decided quite where to put the initial sight bounaiers really, though in the west its about set..

well....could i still join as China when it's done though? PLEASE... ;)

that could be a very, very, very long wait- china wont become accessable until someone funds an expidition over there, which, unitl the rise of the mongols, will be insanelly expenvie for european nations a tleast, and still a major drop in the bucket for the islamic nations; and even when the mongols arise, ti will still cost a pretty penny, and good realtions will have to be had; or alternatelly, if the mongols are deafeted, the winners fo the war will obviouslly have a bit of a reputation on the steppe, and the bandits and mauraders who prey on deligations and trade ocnvoys wont really go near you- lowering the cost....

essentially, imagine one econ buying about a half inch, to an inch and a half of explored territoy in the diection you want to go, the amp will then be explored up to that point, so thoertically, people could co-explore then entire way, but only the people who make the final push will have contact with say China....

arrghh...i'll be France until China is discovered. ;)

Wow, cant believe its not taken. Ill be Rome.
