Look's good i think it will mix in with the game very well:goodjob: hope to see it soon:D

Great unit!!! Variety is the spice and all that.

I think it would be great to have every civ have their on unique units so they don't have to share with others.
my 2 cents worth.
:)

Looks great as usual, friend. But one suggestion. what about painting it on grey or another german camouflage color? it's very strange to see a Reiter on blue clothes. It's the Civ Specific color, but...isn't it for the german civilization only?I think it could look greater painted like the fallschirmjäger or the waffen SS.
But I love it!!!

I know,...The color is the Civ spec color. I use the GREY color for my Civ game.
I decided to leave it...but I might change it to grey like my Waffen SS;)

(BTW Your Flamethrower looks awsome:goodjob:)

To me it looks as if it's more a unit for a 18th century/napoleonic wars mod or a 19th century mod, so Prussian blue ought to be nice, although it ought to be a little darker! Dark blue was the traditional Prussian uniform color

The German cavalrymen in WW1 wore the same uniforms as the common soldier in the trenches, except for their cavalry boots of course.

Hmmmmm, that is interesting, maybe I should leave the Civ colrs so that whoever is making 1800, WWI or WWII mods can choose the proper colors....
I will give it a thought, Thanks!;)

Graphic wise I have to say it looks formidable. Nevertheless there is something I have never quite understood, but that is perhaps more the fault of the Firaxis game designers than yours. The Cavalry unit it is meant to replace fires his rifle from horseback, but that is historically incorrect (after all it is an historical game). The rifled cavalry from the Napoleonic era onto around WW1 were called Dragoons (remember the unit from Civ2). They did not fire their rifles from horseback but preferred to dismount when engaging the enemy. The cavalry which did fight on horseback used either lances (Lancers) or sabres (Hussars). The cavalry of the American Civil War were equipped with carbines and also chose to dismount when engaged. If Cavalry ever used firearms on horseback they preferred pistols or revolvers. As one would imagine it is very difficut to get an accurate shot from horseback let alone reloading the rifle when in close-quarter fighting. I understand that making a graphic representation of a Cavalry unit dismounting before attacking would mean that the combat-sequences in Civ3 would take an inordinate amount of time. I hope my nitpicking is excused.

You could be right. and I think that I will probaly create a unit in which the soldier gets off the horse and uses the rifle! Or stays on and uses the pistol!:)

You have got me thinking..........:scan:

And you are correct about the dragoons, and I believe only the English and French had them....

I love it! Great work.:)

Two points;
#1 From a design point of view having dismounting attacks realy can't be made to look right. I have been trying it with my Mobile Infantry, but the attack animation is played several times during an attack, even with the slowest flic delay speed (@170) there is still achance that the attack will begin its cycle again if the combat goes on for to long. And if it finishes too quickly the animation will (as far as I have observed) carry on.
Either you have an animation that includes a dismount AND a remount, or you save the dismount animaition for a bombard or fortify ani. A cavalry unit that fires a pistol in combat but who dismounts to make a bombard sniper atack with a rifle would be very cool.
#2 Please keep the Civ colouring !!!
People assume that WWII Units will only be used in a WWII scenario, and that in that case the unit will be a UU, and thus will not need civ colours. but please (and this goes for every one in the third reich team) add civ colours to your units unless that unit is a a military unit exclusivly used by the german army!
Remember that several units were also used by the Hungarians, Romanians, Swiss, Austrians, Vichy france, Italians etc.
With out Civ colours there is no room for flexibility in scenario design.

Come to think about it, I will leave everthing as planned:
This unit will have the civ colors and I will not go:crazyeye: crazy making this unit different.....

Thanks smoke for your opinion...

I like it the way it is nonnob3:D it looks great

On the attack sequence, you actually CAN do it right if you want to. It is in the INI file of the unit animation. Remember there are always this few lines in the INI files? Attack1=, Attack2=, Attack3= etc. The way Civ3 handle its animation is by playing these files in sequence BUT only the last file will be looped. Therefore, if you have both Attack1 & Attack2, Attack1 will only be played once while Attack2 will be looped until one of the unit dies. So, if you want to do a unit dismounting and attack, then Attack1 should be the dismount animation while Attack2 is the actual attack animation after dismount.

Hope that helps. :king:

My god! thank you dark sheer.
I am about to continue work on my t34/85 and I have been trying to decide if I should have infantry riding on the back.
If it is right that they can jump off and crouch in attack 1, and begin firing in attack 2 then this could be a great idea.
But please tell me; Which on is the Bombard animation slot then?
Because I don't want the men dismounting for a bombardment.

Remember that several units were also used by the Hungarians, Romanians, Swiss, Austrians, Vichy france, Italians etc.

Oops, what I meant was the fins, not the swiss. But then again?
If things turn out differently in a scenario perhaps the swiss could ally with germany

You got me going again!!!
I am also planning to create GERMAN INFANTRY (Grenaider) and I might now combine it with this Cavalry unit!!! :D

Thanks Dark Sheer!!!!

Unfortunately bombardment uses Attack1. So in your case you will need 3 animations. Attack1 firing with infantry on the back (Bombardment. And infantry don't dismount when the tank bombard from a distant anyway ), Attack2 dismount and Attack3 both tank & infantry firing. ;)

well the swiss did receive some german equipment during and after the war, most notably Me-109s of various models and Hetzers... so you weren't wrong at all :)
