Update 0
Boring Times
4000 BCE- 1000 BCE
The history of this world will differ and be unique from OTL. The following is a lose following of BT orders to update us into the start of the NES. Forgive me if its brief. It’s 3 A.M
Western Europe:
Beginning with Iberico. A strange people diverse from those in the rest of Europe. Following taboo rituals that the rest of the world would shun at sight. Through the differences to the tribes on their borders they have formed many enemies in Iberia. Barbarians see them as barbarous if any sort of irony can be seen in this. Because of this they are forced to carry out trading with tribes in Africa and the Balearic Islands. Attempts to spread their beliefs have failed but they remain the strongest nation in the area and the peoples outside their control stay low to keep safe from inevitable invasions.
Shardana, the closet thing to neighbors the Iberians have is a trading post setup by merchants from around the areas on the isle of Sardinia. Trading freely as they please. Not a very large population nor a large enough army to defend themselves. Only bribes with the Italian states keeps them alive.
To the north of Shardana is the most powerful Italian state. The Etruscan League. Controlling sea to sea in Italy and the isle of Corsica they are considered the regional power and dominate Italia with threats of invasion.
To the south of them is the Oscan League. Weakest of the three states they survive via alliance with Syracuse. Still in a rather weak location and hard to defend they could easily be destroyed if efforts against aren’t made.
Tarantan League is to the east of this. Second in considered military power. They do not consider themselves Italian but rather Greek. Having formed from migrating Greek merchant families centuries previous. Making them an outcast of sorts in Italia.
Syracuse is the shining light in the region. Monopolizing trade over much of the area and controlling the important trade island of Malta brings in much trade. But easily cut off from the east they would lose this trade and become lesser to the Italian Leagues. They have a moderately good sized navy and outclass any other nation in the area in that field.
Croatia is on the edge of the Italian Leagues with its much larger neighbor the Magyar Empire, having formed in much the same way as Magyar. They are almost a twin country. But the two are in fact enemies who have been in a constant or near to it state of war for the past century. But now they are currently experiencing a peaceful truce. Croatia’s main trading ally is the Tarantan League.
The Magyar Empire of the Danube, settled by exiled men from the north-east the fertile basins of the Danube provide the perfect location for an Empire. The first King rules greatly leading the Empire to its strongest time ever. With a large army and many victories over Croatia they could soon threaten the Italian Leagues with their power.
East Europe:
Greece is a land of many warring nations. Not once in its history so far has it been united. That still seems quite far off.
Illyria the farthest west of the Greek states, it is one of the minor and least powerful of the group. Shadowed by the much larger and stronger neighbors they have a aging King and a failing government. It isn’t long before someone steps in to take over.
The state of Epirus lies to the south of Illyria. One of the two possible invaders of Illyria. She has a sea trade route with Italy and uses it to her advantage. Making Epirus rich and powerful. A true contender for the race for Greece.
On the other hand we have Paionia. One of the largest Greek states they are poorer. But have huge man power and skilled warriors. The odds are in favor of them bringing Greece under one crown.
South of the above two is Thessaly. The middle man of Greece. Between rich and poor with a average size military. They have won many wars of defense on their own part and show promise.
Farthest south is Corinth. The Corinthian Empire fought hard for the lands it has and has become quite wealthy and rather lacking in military training and upkeep since the wars of the past. They instead choose to buy off enemies or hire other states to help them.
The Isle of Crete is dominated by a sea trading Empire of Zopyros, led by a smart and determined King they have lucked up with storms and the like in the past to keep invading fleets at bay. So to has this happened with trade suddenly gaining them the rights to jack up the prices on grains and other goods. The luck may run out if a potential enemy tries hard enough to get at the riches of Crete.
Moving back north to the Thracian nations, we find Ismarusian Thrace. The only Thracian state not vassalized by the women of Crimea. They are semi-powerful on terms of the other Greek states and have a average military. Threats from the neighboring Thracians will most likely bring the downfall and vassalage of this Kingdom.
Directly east is Aenusian Thrace, a vassal of Crimea. They have wealth from their masters and a large army to defend the important trade routes through the Bosporus Straights. They could break away should they gain enough courage. They have the ability just not the guts. Fear of losing trade and money scares them.
North of them and north of the Crimean trading colony is Moesia, a tiny and weak nation kept alive by the life support that is Noznican trade. Should the death of the King come soon enough they may be annexed by the Crimean rulers.
In Crimea we have Noznica. A nation dominated by women. Highly successful they have spread the trade across the Black Sea and vassalized two Thracian nations in the process. Feared warriors they are not argued with. As the saying goes. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
Anatolia:
Moving south we find the Itharni Khaganate. The dominators of Asia Minor. Powerful warlords they have slowly gobbled up any of the previous states in their path. The Empire of a Dozen is the nickname. As a dozen is the number of supposed armies they have defeated and countries annexed. A lot of mythology surrounds them from the outsiders perspective. They are defiantly not the country to mess with and even the Noznicans stay away from their lands.
West of them is Bithynia. A small Thracian colony that broke away and spread into a formidable country. Daring the challenge the word of the Khaganate they soon may be in trouble and need to call someone to their aid. They mainly trade with Miletus.
Miletus is in itself the other great power of Anatolia. Controlling not only a nice chunk of land but also one of the largest navies in the Balkans. Trading with all the warring Greek states made them rich as other picked certain customers and stuck with them. They have a nice reputation and trade regularly with Egypt of the Six Gods to the far south.
Africa and Middle East:
In the south is Egypt of the Six Gods. A trading and seafaring nations unlike the other Nile states to the south. They control many small islands throughout the Mediterranean and even the large island of Cyprus. This places them in a very good position for trading with anyone they chose. Even as far west as Syracuse. Where they lack in land army they make up for in naval forces. Controlling the largest navy in all of the Mediterranean.
To their south are two states.
Armanain Egypt directly south of Egypt of the Six Gods. It and its enemy in the south wage a war of dominance over the Nile. Largely ignoring the northern Egyptians.
Khasuti Egypt in the far south is partly Nubian and fights for their divine right to rule the Nile. Of course this divine right causes war.
Moving on to the Confederation of the Ten Tribes. A nations in OTL Israel. The threat of outside invasion and the worship of the Baalim and Baalot has brought the ten tribes together into one confederation. The herd animals for trade and grow rich with the main traders in Egypt.
To the north East is the Sayithi Kingdom. A warmongering and large Mesopotamian nation who has been at near constant warfare its entire lifespan. Crushing and pushing to the sea and brining in more trade. They once controlled most of much more of the length of the Euphrates but lost out in a break away rebel group saw the far west sea as a bad move for the Empire and would ruin the country. They now have uneasy peace which may break soon enough.
Sipparian Empire, the break away group from Sayithi. Is nearly as strong militarily but lacks the economic power of its former rulers. They are ready to defend themselves either way and have built a huge following which would make it really hard for the old ways to return.
In the Persian gulf is the Eriduan Empire a trading and sea faring nation who trades with tribes along the coast and brings back many riches.
India:
Originally these three empires were one Empire led barely by the good skills of the former Emperor. This eventually failed due to poor infrastructure and lack of common anything. Thus they broke apart.
Sindh is the second most powerful and only one of them with a direct sea trade route. Some say they trade as far as the Persian gulf in good years. They have a huge poorly trained army compared to their neighbors but the numbers to fight off anyone.
To the east is Gujarat. A smaller and the weakest of the three nation. Staying to themselves they have a tough army and require no assistances in defending themselves.
To the North is the most powerful state with the most wealth and largest military. Harappa Holdings controls the location of the original capital and the original farm lands. Giving them a huge boost in food and population booms over the others. They could easily be defeated if the other two joined and took her down.
China:
Nookle Empire, led by the Hans dominates the north and is equal in most ways to the Wu in the south. Large populations and plenty of perfect areas to grow crops. China proves to be a perfect location for these nations
Wu in the south is much the same but has a large merchant class which travels the coast and sea exploring and finding new tribes to trade with.
Ba the smallest of the three Chinese states is much of a vassal to Wu as a vassal to Nookle. They are a inbetween country picking neither side and reaping the rewards of the trade.
In Korea the Kingdom of Silla. Once a part of the Wu and Han Chinese settlements broke away in fear of war. Settling in Korea and finding it quite more suitable than where they were. Using the location to trade with many different tribes in the areas.
OOC: Sorry I didn't include Silver in this. I was rushing so I could sleep. Its not really a BT but more of a really basic and horrible list of descriptions. Oh well the stats will show more info. Anyway here is the map you've seen it before. Tomorrow I move everything to the real thread and the real NES begins!!!
