Inherited Turn 364 (1682 AD)
Damascus is stagnant. Remove a Priest specialist, since we have an unworked forested grassland tile.
Basra needs a Lighthouse more than a Library, so switch.
Notice that Isabelle's only Horses were outside Cordoba.
Turn 365 (1685 AD)
Cyrus asks for Open Borders. Eh. Why not?
Cordoba comes out of revolt. Hey! Isabelle built Versailles here! SU-WEET!
Galileo (Great Scientist) is born in Thebes. Sending to Najran for an Academy.
Upgrade Caravel outside Kufah to Frigate.
Upgrade City Raider II Axeman in Najran to Grenadier
Start bombarding the walls of Barcelona.
Turn 365 (1685 AD)
Whip Theater in Cordoba. (We need the border pop.)
Turn 367 (1691 AD)
Cavalry in Cordoba intercepts pillaging Musketman (probably headed to Cordoba's Horses).
Turn 368 (1693 AD)
Grenadier in Cordoba defeats Spanish Musketman (another pillager).
Turn 369 (1691 AD)
Barcelona falls.
Upgrade Galley to Frigate.
Turn 372 (1706 AD)
Upgrade Caravel outside New Mecca to Frigate
Turn 372 (1706 AD)
Isabelle sends another Musketman to try and pillage our Horses.
Turn 375 (1715 AD)
Begin moving troops toward Madrid
Turn 378 (1724 AD)
Trade George Rice -> Wheat
Barcelona comes out of revolt. Starving, so whip Theater.
Turn 379 (1724 AD)
Isabelle sends a a fourth Grenadier to pillage our Horses outside Cordoba. This units are spawning from Santiago, which we can't see. It must be East of Barcelona in the fog.
Turn 379 (1724 AD)
Toledo captured and razed.
Madrid's defenses down to 32%. 3 more turns, and we can launch our assault. Isabelle has Grenadiers now, so watch that she doesn't upgrade her Longbowmen.
Here are the locations of our forces:
And a view of the conquered Spanish territory:
Economy steaming along at 40% (+47/turn); culture rate @10%, primarily to speed border pops of new Spanish holdings and in New Arabia/Second Island to put pressure on Qin and Fred's settlements there.
Not surprisingly, we are falling behind a little in tech to George and Qin.
Both have Rifling (neither will trade it.) We discover it in 8. Qin also has techs along the Scientific Method path.
Some of the units built during my turns I have left to provide some defense for our homeland. We've got some $$ to upgrade our outdated units if we need to, but I thought it best not to leave the homeland too underdefended.
The Save can be downloaded here. (It's too big (507 kb) for a simple attachment.)
Here's the turn log if anyone is interested.
