Prob upgrading knight to cavalry..please help me

I have saltpetre (bought at huge expense from the Americans), I have horses, I have iron, all shown in resources box. What's the trick? why can't I upgrade my knights?
I have barracks all over the place. But they won't upgrade my knights (no prob upgrading anything else). Is there something I'm missing here? Grateful for urgent help

Check if you have enough money for the upgrade.

I take it you have Military Tradition as well...? You don't mention it, so I thought I'd check. Only other thing I can think is that you double check that the city definitely has barracks AND all the resources you need. I have mistakenly tried upgrading from barrack-less cities before, and thought what the hell??

I have money for upgrade, i have barracks, the resource box says I have everything I need... um not sure about Military Tradition... i think i had it.. but do i really need that to upgrade Knight to Cavalry?

Yup that is what let's you get cavalry in the first place.

You might not be able to upgrade until the next round...I had that happen one time. Also you might be missing a prerequisite to make the calvary...I had that happen for Modern Armor.....just some guesses.

AFAIK you need only Military Tradition to get to Cavalry and it is usually available once you have the tech. Check with your Science Advisor
