Problems With Font Smoothing

Allright, I install Civilization 3 after maybe 4 months after I reformatted lol. Well ingame when I go to the advisors screen there is a pink outlining of the text. I dont know what is causing this but when I turn font smoothing off, the games text looks like crap, and when I turn it on it looks semi-better than crap.

Civ 3 worked just fine long ago, even when I got rid of my CRT and traded in for this 19inch LCD. My question is, what is causing this?

I'm stumped and I need to know if any one has any solutions.

I had over 1500 fonts installed and so I fixed the problem by reducing the amount of fonts down to about 297, just bellow 300. Then I went into my display properties and changed the font smoothing to standard, not ClearType and then valla it works again.

That looks to me like a Tech Support sort of problem rather than a C&C one.

OK I now fixed the problem after long and tiring moments... It doesn't help that there were 1500+ fonts installed on my pc I had that many because I use alot of photo shop...

It is recommended that the font count stay bellow 300.
