Procylon's Call to Power Project

Does this mod cause memory leaks similar to other mods for Civ4?

I still get game crashes with v9, I don't think it is graphics related. It happens usually when cycling the AI's turns, sometimes clicking a unit. It seems to start occuring around the advent of the industrial era, sometimes before. I tend to expand cities very rapidly to cover as much land as I can.

I play huge maps with 12 civs and 24 city-states. I have a great system that can handle this. It just seems to act like the crashes with mods in Civ4. My son plays the large maps and has only experienced a few crashes, I get them with regularity, sometimes just between a couple of turns.

You could possibly try DX9 to lessen the crashes. I think what happens is that once Civ5 uses 2gb of ram, it crashes. So generally for me, the game starts out using about 1gb of ram, and works it's way to 2gb over the course of the ages. And I am never watching it when it happens, but that is my guess.

And I wouldn't say this mod has memory leaks, but that it exaggerates what is already present, just by virtue of having more things going on at once.

are the new recourses and monopoly system integrated yet? im so excited to try them.

Almost. :) I am hoping that I can pull some magic off and have it in the next 5 hours. I need to add bonuses and update the text strings with the relevant bonus info.

I have a feeling the bonuses could be game-breakingly powerful under the correct circumstances(legendary resources), but I will run with what I have and see how you guys handle it.

At first, the bonuses will be somewhat generic. +% Trade Income, +% Food, +% etc. Later on I am going to transition into better bonuses such as build-able resources, +% build rates for specific unit domains, etc.

And as soon as I get resource icons for Shrimp, Saltpeter, and Polar Bears, I will add those as resources/buildings. HE3 will also be added as a resource, but at a later date when I decide how I want to handle it exactly. Likely be a deep sea resource, but I need to think about it some more and plan for it in the tech tree.

Well, i just have to say thank you for all the work you are doing.:goodjob:
I hope you will have time for playing your mod:)
So i can not wait for the new version, and i think i will enjoy it, like all the earlier versions (since V4 im still playing). :D

New V9 is finally here!

http://www.mediafire.com/?fszgs6p189ac9io

1 New Resource System! All resources, including the 27 Vanilla resources, now spawn on the map using Deep Blue's Resource Generator Mod. As far as gameplay and balance goes, placement is completely randomized. Also, all resources are now strategic and come in quantity. For normal resources this is 1 or 2. For classically strategic resources such as Iron/Copper/etc, they come in their standard 3-6 quantities.
2 You now have more control over resource abundance! Replaced the old advanced setup resource options with: Low, Standard, High, Very High, and Legendary. If you choose low, you will see very few resources. If you choose Legendary, it will be wall to wall(Warning: graphics hog).
3 13 New resources: Crab, Rice, Corn, Soybean, Cocoa, Tea, Copper, Alligator, Poppy, Tobacco, Coffee, Titanium, and Rare Earths.
4 New Trade Monopoly System! With the addition of 17 technologies(Economic Page) and 200 buildings(5 per resource), resources will be more important than ever!
-Each resource now has a line of buildings: Small, Medium, Large, Huge, and Monopoly.
-Each building requires the smaller version that came before it in the city.
-Each building requires 1 of it's resource, and provides 1-2 bonuses to it's city of origin(10% to a Yield or 1 happiness and 5%).
-Each Building provides a 10% increase in trade income. Each Monopoly provides 20%.
-Monopoly buildings require 2 Huge buildings somewhere in the empire, and provide global bonuses(20% to a Global Yield, or 10% and +2 Happiness per city).
5 Removed several beelines from the Social Page.
6 Generally reduced Happiness from buildings.
As of February 24

Some things to note:
-Map generation time has increased quite a bit. This is due to the resources being added to your map.
-I haven't balanced the rest of the system for the monopolies. This will happen in the coming weeks as I get your feedback. Everything from resource abundance to yields will be open to tweaking and may feel horribly broken in game.
-Strategic resource increasing policies are going to be strong. I will address them in the near future, until then use them with discretion.
-Similar to the resource requiring Unit buildings, you will likely be able to trade a resource from an AI and build monopoly buildings. I hope to weight the AI's resource value in the near future.
-Graphics related crashes may be more of an issue, especially if you use some of the more abundant resource options.
-I am thinking some of the resource icons may need to be changed. I am not sure I like the white backgrounds, though it does help them stick out more. I am thinking that some kind of scaling background color scheme could work well for the resource icons, with the same low-key colors that are used on the vanilla resources. If anyone has any other ideas on the icons let me know. Hopefully Feuteupool is still around and willing to help. :)

Anyway, that is all I can think of for now. I hope you guys enjoy the new system. :)

Playing a standard map, marathon mode 6AI and there are no resources anywhere. Discovered sailing, bronze working and still nothing. Will go for animal husb and see if that pops up anything. AI has no resources either. I chose the default that came with the Resource setup of Standard. Turn 110 so far and happiness ill indeed be a factor if resources cant be found.

EDIT 1-got animal husb...nada turn 175 an still noone has a single resource. At what tech do they unlock?

EDIT 2-On the plus side, ive never had so many friends before and many are friends with each other. I get messages about how they are friends with X as i am and they are glad and think this will work out in the future. Ive never seen these messages before haha. I guess with no resources, everyone is friendlier with each other and not as envious.

Does anyone have resources in their game? If so what did you select? turn 347 and nada. However, has made for an interesting game though...just getting colosseums, which are hell to maintain, but wow are they valuable now haha. Im building trading posts like crazy to afford them and will see how this goes.

EDIT 1-Also, was wondering For each population point, how many people is that actually? Been wondering about this for awhile and kept forgetting to ask.

I got resources using the 2nd highest setting. I think iron and horses needs to go back to earlier placement methods. Because in early eras those two resources are very important and they were few of them on the map I played. You're right about getting more graphic-related crashes. I get a crash when a worker is auto-selected now even in Strategic view.

I havnt had a single crash or anything, but then again i have no resources in my game. Could this be then related to resources? You get crashes having them, and i have none in 501 turns.

For my first game the loading time is 10x maybe 15 than normal (all standard), i get my first monopol with soybeans and rice ( the ai is trading to low).
All looks nice but i think i will change the text endings(us_Us) some troubles where there, but no big ones:).
The loading time is very long.

What did you pick for resources?

Yeah i sea them all. In fact i have aligators and all the other resources. When i set the starting siz on legendary, nearly all titles are resources(but the loading time is about 10 m.). The ai is very friendly of course, but in my first game i was denounced by bismarck at turn 10 or 11 my( setting aside my border )

LOL funny. Well in my resource-less game, when the AI takes a city...its get razed...way funny. They used to puppet everything, now its toast haha. I seriously think this needs to be made an option, because it does change the whole game. Though maybe a resource or 2 would be nice, it is really funny to watch. Its changed totally the way I play.

I got a crash in the renaissance era. No additional techs seemed ravailable and when I opened the tree and clicked on one it seized responding.

I had just researched chemistry, all the trade monopoly techs up to that point, etc but I hadn't unlocked feudalism yet.

I realize that is kind of vague but that should give you a general idea of what era of the tech tree you have a typo in. :)

Cross Cowboy: Are you using any other mods besides this one and did you delete the older version before installing the newer one?

I forgot to mention, that any mod with assignstartingplots.lua will now be incompatible. Basically any mods with new map generators or a host of other related changes.

If you don't see the resources with no other mods running though... hmm.

Heh, resources aren't going to suddenly appear. There should be resources present turn 1.

Try the other resource settings.

Anyone know if there are certain map settings that work, and some that don't?

Also, the population per point is the same as it was in other civ games, whatever that number was. I never liked the way they counted that.

Is that the only setting that worked? 2nd highest would probably be too many resources for most...

I can increase their abundance individually.

Yeah sorry for the long load time. At least you guys only need to load once per game. :p I have to load it every time I change something.

What resource setting are you playing on?

Also, what turn did you get your first monopolies?

How smooth is the game running with no resources? :p

Funny the AI is acting differently. I wonder if resources played a large part in their territory claims.

Crash Wall? Hmm, I will have to search for that after work.

I have no mods other than this one running. Everytime you put out a new version, I disable everything, including my civ mods, and try it out ala nude. The game is running smooth as silk, no crashes, virtually no delay in turns, and requires that you totally play differently. Now that I have a few buildings, ive been able to expand out a bit and have 6 cities and its about 1100AD. Its almost a different game with the way that the AI acts.

As for my era, im all the way into Ren era and unlike others above who are having crashes, i have none now after 600 turns. This really makes me wonder about resources and how they are in the game. Im going to make another game up using all the same settings(other than AI) and choose something that gives me resources(maybe Legendary). I want to see if crashes start.

EDIT 1-Every new patch I delete out the old mod completely and even do my cache for the game. I also wipe out all the old saves as I want nothing in there to possibly conflict.

For me i am using other mods (my own not released), and my first monopol (pangaä, standard size, prince, random personality, standard resources) at turn 70-75. At this time i only have 3 cities and my enemies have 2. I suspect that my population is growing to fast ( but my mod), and the happiness is getting minus. The the loading time get longer by map sizes and resources settings but still works.

Was pretty pumped to try this, but when I try to load a game (Iroquois, Large, "Earth", Immortal, no other mods), I get a C++ error

ASSERTION FAILED
i < ARRAY SIZE

I have updated my redistributable. Options are retry, abort, and ignore. All three crash the game

Any ideas would be appreciated; I'm dying for some new life in this game. CCMAT II is good, trying DonMarty instead of this now. Anybody else suggest anything to me? :crazyeye:

Try a game with a smaller size and reduce the setting of the resources, may be:confused:
Also ctp seems to hardcore for your engine, so reduce the numbers of ais.
