Progressive MP game thread

I'll pay more attention to my 'system'.
Pretty sure I was not the cause, but I am going to be a more diligent. Just to keep the game progressing forward.

Turn done, Thunderbrd is up.

That was a new turn.

By the way, why are we (well, I am anyway) still getting asked if we should recalc? Aren't we all using the exact same game version? This seems to be an error somehow.
Yeah, I have no idea how to fix that. It's been happening pretty regularly on v37 but apparently it must have something to do with this game's settings in comparison to the Conservative. No idea how that's getting triggered.

Koshling... what function should I look at for figuring out how the recalc panel is getting brought up?

I'm sorry - I really can't remember. I think it is based on check-summing the assets and prompts for a recalc if they appear to have changed. My best guess is that because we are swapping between mods (between the older two games and the newer two) that is causing it to see loads as different somehow. However, since they are different mod folder I can't quite see how it would know

Oddly, it doesn't happen every turn. This turn and the last it did, but the one before that it did not. The Conservative game also usually asks, possibly always, but I haven't been keeping track. Perhaps I'll start keeping track. Oddly, the US_MP game does not ask, even if I have just done one of these newer games just before it. So it thus does not seem to have to do with switching between versions, unless v37 is just more sensitive to that. The only other thing that I can think of that that someone in the sequence is using a slightly different version. I did turn off the FOV slider in my BUG options, as I cannot tolerate that being there as I have accidentally clicked on it in the past and messed up my view, but I doubt that would make a difference. Or would it?

As far as I know, Thunderbrd is still up.

It might be best to just keep the game going for the time being.

hmm... yeah I'll have to look into it deeper at some point. I just wish I could figure out where to put a stop point so as to analyze the process but it shouldn't be toooo hard to figure out.

I dont think it's anything special with this game. There have been many bug reports on similar phenomena in the main bug threads so it must have to do with some setting this game is using not working well with the trigger system for that recalc popup.

Just keep saying no when you need to is all I can say for now.

Anyhow, sorry it took us so long but our turns are taken!

S&S is up!

So far I have never been asked to re_calc in the Conservative game. Just use the settings folder supplied.

Oh. Why are you suggesting we say no? I have clicked on yes a couple of times. This is at least partly because of the following.

In a test game I did for v37, I got several turns in with always clicking no. I had explored a ways, including several (about a dozen probably) Coast squares. None had hut-islands. I was just considering myself unlucky. Eventually, I got tired of clicking no, and clicked yes. While it was recalculating, hut-islands appeared in several squares in view. Thus it seems to me that without recalculating, the game is not utilizing all of the available game features.

Interesting. It's really not supposed to be inviting more goody huts or islands to show up but that's a very convincing reason not to... it's disrupting the continuity of the game as it's supposed to be playing out. It's really not something we should be doing every round. There COULD be some mathematical spots where it's kinda screwing things up too. I've found one or two points where recalcs had caused an error. I fixed those. But it's just something that should be done as little as possible and only when absolutely necessary.

Did a check around now, it's unlikely I'll be able to take my turn until later tonight. (Will be out and about with significant other :D)

It will be waiting for you. ;)
