Promotions should play an important part of the game.

For example, i don't think any unit should require metal to build, but if it is in a city with access to a metal, it should receive a metal promtion, based on the metal.
copper=+1 strength
Iron=+2 strength
Mithril=+3 strength.

i'm waiting for more examples.

Even the differences between lanceman and halbardier could be differentiate by promotions. give them the choice, on creation, of being good against cavalry or agianst infantry, and do it with a promotion.

i dont like this, i think it must be like this:

Cooper +1 str
Iron +2 str -1 spe +%25 city defence
Mithril +4 str +%50 city defence +25% city attack

and i think there must "racial" bonuses like this:

Elvish Forge: "needs 1 iron" gives 1 Elvish Ironcrafter or Iron
ect...

I'd probably make Mithil stronger compared to the other weapons promotions, and add Dwarven Steel and Galvorn weapons too.

I think it is probably too powerful to add these promotions automatically like in FfH (at least for Mithril), and unthematic. Perhaps they would be better gotten though FfH style "spells," requiring the resource, a forge or similar building (probably a Dwarven UU for Dwarven steel), and costing gold (mithril would be expensive, so you should never be able to equip an entire army with it). In the real world bronze/brass weapons were just as good as or better than iron/steel for most purposes and didn't require so hot a forge, but their ores were more expensive. Perhaps Iron and bronze should be equal, but bronze would be availible sooner and would cost more gold to get. Allowing some weapons promotions to be gained through random events would also be good. It might even be appropriate for mithril and galvorn weapons to be handled like FfH's equipment, since I'm sure rival armies would despoil bodies to take such valuable armor/weapons.

Oh, it might be a good idea to split up armor and weapons into separate promotions (assuming that like in FfH you use separate attack and defense strengths.)

Would you recommend using FFH2 as a base mod for this, but rewriting most things. (just retaining a spell system for the various things we want)
