Bulgaria Civ Overview (Exploration Age)

What does it mean? Bolyar: Ignores Rough for movement and opposing unit’s combat

Wow, is Bulgaria strong. Haven't been able to play more than a few turns, but these pillaging rewards... and then free relics in the civic tree + early Rila unlock. That's both super fun and super strong.

Yeah while Augustus doesn't unlock anything (he only has "recommended choices", 8 of them now), Rome does unlock 6 civs. However, they only have 3 in common (Spain, French Empire and Prussia) - we could say that Rome is more "Europe" while Augustus is more "Mediterranean".

It's weird that Rome unlocks America and not Mexico. Mexico has much, much more real and tangible Roman heritage (through Spain) than the USA does. The USA is indeed inspired in its system of government by some Roman ideals, but so is Mexico's government. Moreover, the Mexican speak a Romance (Latin-derived) language and are mostly Roman Catholic, the religion that developed in the late Western Roman Empire.

so a stepping stone to Russia then.
Where's Byzantium?
The other interesting stone could be Vikings.
Two UUs.
- Housecarl: Infantry replacement.
- Langskippe: Warship replacement.

No Scandinavia rep and also Byzantium is a pretty major civ albeit one that usually sits out dlc

Feudal Japan, Ottomans and the Aztecs are also weird omissions to me
