I was mowing the lawn, and then it hit me.
After I got the lawnmower away from the tree, I was hit by an idea. Could we have a monthly CFC newsletter? It could contain in-depth site news, civ news, and maybe even a featured download and strategy. Any thoughts? comments?

Sounds good, but a lot of work.

Yes, definately a lot of work and would probably require a new staff member. We just got 4(I think) new staff members in the last few days already!

I doubt, however, that TF has not considered it. Perhaps if you begged him he'd allow one.

I always want to send regular newsletters because it is an excellent way to keep visitors and even "create" more active forum members. The only problem is sending newsletter to so many members takes lots of server resource. One time the forum crashed while I was mass mailing members. I don't know if mass emailing members was directly responsible but I am a little "wary" of it...

Maybe I can circumvent the problem by sending newsletters on weekends, which are the slowest days of the week....

It sounds good but it wouldn't be that useful for regular members really, since most news is posted straight onto the main page.

It might be a good laugh if it had like a "monthly highlights" bit - stuff like Funniest Post or Best Thread (most informative, most entertaining etc)

Yes, that's a good idea.

Or an announcement when a top-scen will be released on this site with a recommendation from the admin.

Something like:

How about sending it only to those members who have logged on in the last 6 months? Or to those who have over, say, 10 posts - that would weed out a few "dead horses" wouldn't it?

However a newsletter might make people decide to visit CFC again and actually start posting.
