Proposal to Firaxis

I definitely support this idea, and hope that The Publisher Formerly Known As Infogrames (TPFKAI) will find it worthy of attention too.

Money is not really a big issue to me, though I wouldn't say no to a nice sack of coins, being handed over. My main interest lies in getting all these mods distributed in a professional way to a much larger audience than can be reached here, and of course helping out the poor b****rds who are still on analogue modems :)

@Gingerbread Man:
If you really mean that you would want to add in 200 civilopedia entries, let me give you the email of the DyP-mod Civilopedia Editor :D

@Loulong:
:o Sorry, I have downloaded your 'Magna Grecia' and 'Egypt and around' maps - just haven't had time to play them yet... But the interest is definitely there.

Tentatively count me in. (Real life has conspired to lower a bunch of my free time).

Same here on all your points.

I would be willing to pay more for the game if it had the extra CD with all the stuff you are looking at adding.

A quick question, are there plans to add any of the various Tools and Utilities (MapStat, Apollo, etc)?

Some new official leaderheads are almost a must for the next expansion or patch even maybe.

this is gonna be great. so many new leaderheads and Units :)

does this mean that you would be able to include many civs that didnt get in?

We still don’t know what most of the new Conquest civs are. First, we have to find that out and then add the civs that didn’t get in the expansion.

yeah i suppose hehe.. im thinking this is too grat and not thinking about other stuff first.. but when we find out then we will know

I can in no way contribute to the cause but i WILL buy the fruits of everyones labor. Make sure TPFKAI sees this. Hey, how about a poll asking who would buy and for how much. Put it on the civfanatics home page to get as much attention as possible. Maybe ask other sites to link to it.

Great idea, TET! :) I hope Firaxis & Atari will accept your proposal soon. There is no doubt that everyone can benefit from it. Who can resist buying an expansion that has essentially twice as much (great) content, for the same price?

If Firaxis/Atari accept the proposal, I am confident that gaming sites will say nice things about this Best of the Net CD in their reviews. :)

HEY! Just signing in. TET contacted me the other day about this, and I'll be doing leaderheads. This is going to be great!

Ok, here's an idea about selling this thing: Firaxis and the websites that 'supported' the modpacks split the profits. So the community benefits. however, since the people who made them wouldn't be getting any money(directly) from it, i wouldn't pay more than $19.95 for it, with about $3 going towards packaging and materials, $2 to firaxis, $5 to the 'community' in general(various sites, mostly this one), and the other $10 being the 'general 100% markup' put on by the retail stores...so base price of $9.95, then tack on whatever the store adds on to it

hey we even got Thunderfalls support
btw thunderfall would it be hard to mail firaxis and tell them that the whole civfanatic community supports the idea?

I think what we are seeing here in this thread are people recognizing what a great idea this is and seeing the potential of it. I’m glad and hope we can see this actually materialize; fore it would be an amazing project to work on. One thing is for certain which I can't see pose a problem for us – and that is motivation. Honestly, if Firaxis gives us an opportunity to play larger than standard role in this endeavour, it very well could prove to be the wisest of decisions because people here are ready deliver.

I've always said that a healthy mod community is the best thing a game can have [if you want I'll link you to at least one instance of this in this forum :P].

If Firaxis and Atari accept this idea, it may be one of the best decision a gaming company's ever made.
Good luck to all of you who will [hopefully] be working on this great project!

I couldn't agree with you more and I have to tell you we are all prepared to work very hard on this project - nobody will be disappointed.

thanks for your support!

I think this is a great idea, teturkhan. This will make the next expansion much more valuable. Maybe you can make a poll in which you ask whether people would like such an addition and if they would pay more for such an extra CD included in the Conquests expansion. Polls always attract a lot of people.

Something like:

Poll: Would you like the Conquests expansion to be bigger?

A very easy question for me :lol:

I'll take that as a second to my earlier post suggesting a poll.

Uh, yes, of course. It seems I didn't read the tread carefully.
I second your proposal :goodjob:
