Question about resources

So say I have acess to two silks or any other happiness/commerce resources, does each silk grant me one happy face/commerce per city or can I trade one of the silks without loseing any happiness/commerce?

You can trade surplus resources away without it affecting your happiness. Whether you have 1, 2 or 14 silks, it will still only give you one happy face per city.

The same thing goes for all resources, including health and strategic ones. Provided all of your cities are hooked up to the resource in question.
