Questions about The BUG Mod

So I'm sure this questions has been answered a 1000 times so I apologized in advance. I am currently running BUG 4.2 and I have Blue Marble as well.

I want to upgrade to the lastest version of BUG and I'd like the BAT as well. What are the steps to do this? Install both the BUG and Blue Marble and re-install or can I just install over everything?

BAT includes both BUG and some of the terrain graphics of BlueMarble. First, uninstall the old version of BUG. If you deleted or cannot find the uninstall program BUG created, remove your My Games / BTS / CustomAssets folder. Next install BAT. You can optionally install BlueMarble after that if you like, but I suggest trying BAT alone first to see that things are okay.

Do not install BUG again as it is in BAT.

Thank you,

Do I uninstall Blue Marble as well? I can't find an Uninstall program nor to I see it in the Remove Programs....

If you run the installer there is an option to uninstall it. You can also just reinstall it after removing the CustomAssets folder.

It works. Thanks for the quick response. A few other questions:

1. When I was running the BUG mod 4.2, when I clicked on Civ BTS icon on my deskstop, it would automatically start BTS with the BUG mod. How can I do this with BAT 2.3?

2. I started a game on my laptop the other night, no MODS, just straight BTS. Is there a way I can play this game with the BAT mod? I tried to load it a few minutes ago and I get the prompt "The Mod that is needed for this game is: NONE". Do you want to restart? When I say YES, it restarts in regular un-MODDED BTS. Any advice?

Thanks again.

When installing BAT you have an option to have it start automatically with BTS. If you didn't select that option, you can follow the autoload instructions in the FAQ.

Unfortunately no. BTS stores the name of the mod in the saved game itself. You can install the latest version of BUG using the single-player install method and continue that game using it. The downside is that this conflicts with BAT in a way whose solution will block BAT from using BlueMarble. You could at least do this temporarily to finish that game and then uninstall BUG after. You may need to reinstall BlueMarble again after that. You won't have to reinstall BAT.

This may sound like a weird question and I don't know if it's just me. I am using the BAT 2.3 MOD, which is great. When I give my workers instructions, I usually, for example, press <SHIFT> chop trees then Build improvement. However, I have noticed that after a couple of turns when the worker is selected again, the forests are still their and I need to press CHOP and the forest will just disappear. Does this make any sense? It's almost like like I am losing a turn.

Sorry for the vagueness.

This is the Pre-Chop feature and can be disabled on the General options tab. Your workers stop with one turn left of chopping as competitive players like to pre-chop their forest in preparation for quickly rushing a wonder later by mass-chopping.

If you have pre-chop turned on, which I think is default, you need to give your workers the chop order twice, then build improvement.. at least I think that was how it worked.

Here's another question: I get DOWed by the Chinese. They attack, I defend myself in my territory. No problems. Look at the scoreboard, it say they have only three cities. So after I destroy their stack, I head in, take one city. The scoreboard reads that they now have 2 cities, then all of a sudden, 6 more cities are added and he now has 8 cities. How is that possibble? I do a WB check and he had 8 cities all along.

I must admit I was surprise that he had only 3 cities, but am I missing something?

I can't be sure without a screenshot, but whenever the number of cities is cyan instead of white it means that BUG is estimating the number of cities by showing you only the ones you know about (plus the capital if you haven't found it yet). Unless you can open the trade window and see a rival's list of cities, BUG must show this estimate to avoid giving spoiler information.

avoid getting spoiler information? that sounds completely unnecessary.

Except the UG in BUG is Unaltered Gameplay which means not giving away any information not already available in the unmodded game. You've got the source code; feel free to expose it. ;)

hi!

i was wondering for a long time now - why cant i see the plot list buttons like in the older bug versions?

at first i thought it was only on revdcm, but when i check the vanilla bug 4, i saw that its not there also - no plot buttons.

i sa a maininterface-ple.py,

how do i get those back and why aren't they a default - is there a problem with it?

I think that we changed the default to Draw Style = BUG. Both Vanilla and PLE grind to an almost halt when you get large number of units on a tile. We coded up BUG in a way that is fast with large number of units.

And to be frank ... the coding for PLE is really ugly.

re "maininterface-ple.py" - I wouldn't if I were you - I do that when I am making massive changes to a file so that I can compare the two (before and after). We really should have deleted that stub file.

I installed BUG 4.4 but cannot open it. I changed the .ini file and it won't work and even I tried running the BUG 4.4 Mod and it gives me this error:

Mods\BUG Mod 4.4\ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring

PLease help.

OS Version: Windows 7

BTS version: 3.19

Installation source: EXE

Installation method: Single-user

Merged Mods: None, however, I did uninstall the BAT 2.3 Mod just before.

Again the problem: I installed BUG 4.4 but cannot open it. I changed the .ini file and it won't work and even I tried running the BUG 4.4 Mod and it gives me this error:

Mods\BUG Mod 4.4\ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring

As far as I know, nothing non-standard with my setup.

Thank you.
