Questions & Answers

It's quite hidden, but you can find it some posts down on the fourth page of this thread.

There is also another Korea modmod which was recently released, but is not downloadable yet (look into the modmod section). It has the advantage that it doesn't replace the Maya and differs in spawn date, UHV etc.

How does giving cities away effect stability?

The stability guide says that giving cities away has a negative impact on stability. But there are many ways to give cities way, do they all have the same affect on stability? Or are some less negative than others?

For example:

1) When you liberate a city that was conquered by one AI from another, it gives the option of returning that city to it's original owner.

2) When you relinquish cities to a newly spawned civilization in their spawn area.

3) When you relinquish a city because they want to join another civ due to cultural acculturation.

4) When you gift or trade a city to another AI whilst in diplomacy with them.

Do all of these 4 methods of giving away cities have the same impact on stability? Also does giving away cities have the same impact on stability as raizing them? Raizing cities is certainly crueler than giving them away so it might seem logical that it would be worse.

Hey guys, I need help.

Whenever I launch Civ IV or Age of Empires III, the window minimizes itself to task bar upon launch. When I click on the icon on the taskbar, it just shows the in-game-cursor, music comes on, but the screen is still frozen at the desktop.

This only started today, and it did not occur the last time I played which was 4 days ago. That was also the time I downloaded Age of Empires III for 10 cents on xbox marketplace. Could it have something to do with that?

Anyone have any ideas what I could do?

Haha, sorry muh bad. I figured it out btw. I uninstalled msn toolbar and driverwhiz and the problem stopped.

Hello, I just reinstalled Civ 4 after a long break, followed by trying out and being disappointed by Civ 5. The first thing I did after installing was to download RFC, but soon remembered an old problem - how to enable random seeds when reloading? I managed to enable it in RFC RAND, but can't find any such option in the standard mod... Can anyone provide information on the problem? I would be very grateful. :)

The .ini file for RFC contains a value called no custom scenarios. Change that from 1 to 0 then you can edit the game rules including victory conditions and preserve random seed.

Hey guys I have a big question. Is there a way to change civilization more than than once?? I have an idea for a game but I can't realise it without changing civilization I am playing more than once.

No easy way that I am aware of.

Wasn't there a possibility to switch between civs using the cheat mode? No idea how it works, but maybe that would be enough in your situation.

shift-alt-z = go back one civ: shift-alt-x = go forward one civ ;)

Oh, yeah? Because I was only aware of alt + z....

There might also be a way to switch players in the Python console, but then you need to be able to open it first...

I'm fairly sure both exist. I'm kinda too lazy to test right now and busy bug reporting the hell of the the Byzantines for DoC.

Could you use that to take control of say, the independents or Byzantines?

Yes actually... the Byzantines are funny because you have no stability meter you only can't loose Athens and Constantinople

Minor question that's nagged at me for some time.

If I switch Civics during a golden age, do I still get the stability hit? I've read posts and tips that imply both, but never saw a direct answer.

Yes you do get a stability hit. The GA just helps to make up for it.

Hi everyone. It's my first post here, so I have to say that I really appreciate Rhye's mod.
However I can't find anywhere any links to older versions of rfc (especially rfc for bts 1.186, which I desire because my old savegame crashes when I play rfc v. 1.187, and I lost v. 1.186 when I formatted my pc). I tried to find version 1.186 on civfanatics forum, or Rhye's homepage or by googling it, but without success. Could please someone tell me when can I find v. 1.186 for bts?
