Questions & Answers

Good evening, this is my first time posting in this part of the forums.

My question is, how do you declare war on independent states that you start off as being peaceful with? I'm playing Arabia at the moment with the 600AD start, and I cannot enter Independent Roman territory, nor Independent Patna territory to get at the Holy Cities. I've tried to declare several different ways, trying to move units into the territory (They won't even enter), I looked through the various menus... I even set myself as at war with the independent leaders (all of them) via the Worldbuilder, and that still did not work.

Clearly I'm missing something somewhere, and my apologies if this has been covered before. Thank you for your time in advance.

Rhye, are you still working on a new patch for RCF:BtS , and is so, when can we expect it?

I want to make a new extra leaderhead modcomp soon, but if a new build is coming out, I'll wait a little longer.

There are some nice new LH, like Haile Selassie (Ethiopia) and Pol Pot (Khmer),...

Do you really think Pol Pot is an appropriate inclusion? I know Stalin, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, etc. weren't exactly angels but at least did something which left a lasting positive legacy. Pol Pot was nothing more than a genocidal despot.

When playing as india does it hurt your stability to keep changing civics?

India avoids the stability penalty for Anarchy obviously by virtue of its unique power.

But some civic combinations are inherently more stable than others. So depending on what you switch between you may destablize your Indian empire over a long period of time by switching civics around a lot.

Hitler was in too, the last tume, I dindn't want to add him, but Rhye thought is was OK. I know he was a mad man, but I realy would like to see modern day leaders in the game, maybe I'll add Ho Chi Min, but we can say the same about him too.

I've compiled a 2-pages long list of fixes. But in this moment I'm fully immersed in studying and will be for some more time.
After that, I want to understand if Firaxis will or won't release any new patch, because this is important for me and I really have no idea.
If I were you, I'd start making your stuff, and later update it.
Could you post again the link to your old modcomp? It seems to have never been added to the wiki

The old modcomp is for on older build, so I won't add it now.

Currently I am studinging too, so it will take a while before it's finished. Maybe adding the link then would be better. And i think I deleted them on the server anyway.

Not really, that was kind of my point. Ho Chi Minh falls in to the same category as many of the existing leaders, ruthless or warmongering but still considered "great" in other respects. On the other hand people like Hitler, Pol Pot, etc. aren't in because they were genocidal maniacs with few redeeming features. I believe there's a distinction, and if you want to follow the spirit of civ you should employ it.

the only difference between Hitler and Stalin was that Stalin was in the winning camp of WWII and Hitler had some rascist reason to kill will Stalin had only conspiricty theorie to kill. Rhye was in favour of adding Hitler, but I can see why people don't want Pol Pot in this mod, but Ho Chi Minh was Vietnamese and not Khmer and there is a nice LH of Pol Pot, so why not add them? I'll leave him out for now, will see later.

I also intend to use the Idi Amin LH for mali's modern day dictator Moussa Traoré ( before the 90's I think).

And I am still looking for a modern day Arabian leader and Scandinavian too.

There's really only one candidate for modern Arabian leader, and that's Ibn Saud. His country is named after him you know! As for Scandinavians, maybe King Christian X?

Hitler is slightly different, because like Mao and Stalin he also had a huge effect on the world. Petty dictators like Pol Pot were simply "notorious", you wouldn't have heard about them if they weren't murderers. They don't warrant inclusion in the same way Nero isn't a Roman leaderhead.

I confirm I've always been totally in favour of adding Hitler (but not on the official mod, I can't).
I consider silly pretending that he never existed.

Denial is a powerful thing.

For the record, I am in favour of full historical accuracy, including the swastika and Stalin and Hitler as leaders etc..
