Oh. Well, that seems to make sense. Although, he could just use rome as a base. The byzantines were an extremely important civilization. At the very least, he should give them some qualities of independants, so that you're not always at war with them.

IIRC, the Byzantines actually start at peace with all Christian nations, as of 1.180. Are you playing out of the box?

Byzantium was a late addition. It was added at the bottom of the civ list (so, among the minors) when I made the 600AD start. That's the main reason.

Oh right. Would it cause any undesired effects if MinorNationStatus flag in the WBS file is set to 0?

Rhye, let me use this opportunity to express my amazement at RFC! It's totally great. I spent the whole weekend playing it almost non-stop. It feels like it's Civ 4.5.

Yes it does... I'm hoping and praying its re-done for Civ5

Playing Persia, with their Power of Satraphy Do I get additional stability if I raze city after conquering?

I would think not: the power of satrapy applies to conquered cities. BTW, welcome to the forums!

On a different note: won my first time ever Historical Victory as the Dutch!

:goodjob:

Did you know that the 3rd Dutch UHV condition actually only requires you to have those spice resources within your "fat cross" of cities in your empire (i.e. on tiles that are workable by your cities), as opposed to having to build plantations on all of the spices?

It's the same situation with respect to the American UHV condition for oil too, you don't need to build a whole bunch of wells/offshore platforms.

I have a question about the American UHV: does Grenada (the island just north of the northern tip of South America) count as an area that needs to have no Europeans? How about Road Town (the island just northwest of Grenada)? They are not part of the American continent, no?

Firstly, I am going to assume that you are actually asking about the Aztec UHV rather than the American one, because I can't see how no Europeans in America would otherwise be a relevant question. :crazyeye:

For the Aztec UHV condition, I can confirm that all of the Caribbean Islands are required to have no Europeans. I had to raze a Spanish city on the mainland of South America which had culture expanding over one of the Caribbean islands for this reason when I won with the Aztecs.

I am somewhat confused by your references to the islands though. I would have thought that the island (which is also below central tile of Cuba) situated above the northenmost tip of South America (i.e. the Mountain within modern Venezuela) actually represents Jamaica.

Are we playing the same game here? From the wiki's American UHV:

America

* No European colonies in the whole American continent in 1900 AD

* Build the UN, the Statue of Liberty and the Pentagon by 2000 AD

* Secure 10 oil resources by 2000 AD

I actually know the Aztecs' UHV requires no Europeans on any of the islands.

And no, Jamaica is the island below Cuba (which I had captured from Spain). Spain in my game founded Grenada also:

I am not sure about 1.81, but th version that ships with BtS requires only no colonies in the north and central America. I go by the Atlas and look at what counts as Nort/Central America for the British UHV. I don't know it is correct.

Rhye, i downloaded the mod at least 6 times, but every time it just doesnt come up in the play a scenario section after i load the mod. What do i do?

And as long as your putting in small countries, why not Canada?

Yeah, Road Town is so tough to dislodge (hill fortified redcoats then infantry is just impossible, and I don't have marines yet). I didn't get it in time for my 2/3 UHV Triumphal arch, but I got it just on the turn I got 10 oils when I won with domination.

Somebody please help me!
