Questions, comments, and everything else about the birthday contest

Well... if any of the Mars rovers send in a submission, we'll attempt our best to contact any of the space agencies lol.
What if one of the Voyager probes sends in a submission? I imagine interstellar shipping is expensive. :mischief: And if I remember my Star Trek correctly, be sure to send a humpback whale with the package...

The end is near; get your submissions in today or tomorrow!

A few decades ago I was trying to create a game to simulate the course of history when Sid Meier did just that.
A major strength of the Civilization series is the provision for customization. But the Civilization advance tree needs more flexibility. Historically, writing always comes before alphabet. Awkward consequences if you don't embrace alphabet, but China persveres.
Regardless, Civilization is a fascinating game, if flawed simulation, though the AI "needs work".
Now back to the game.

Once I played Civilization 4 and reached Modern Era. Harmonielehre Part III played. I started to think about the thousands of years of ruling, of being alive all those years and of the marvels of today’s technology. A time after I continued to meditate, now about our history: some parts of the music are about this and that; these feelings here and there and the flashing myriad of thoughts of the many advances in the ending. It’s the most beautiful music I have ever heard, and both the game and the music left me experiences I don’t forget like this one. Civilization 4 is a special videogame, and no other one has made me feel, experience nor think the same…

Edit 5/10/2021: I forgot to put "entry"… :(

The great Civ question:

Have much fun with Civ 1.
A good game true is Civ 2.
Best game easily is Civ 3.
One turn more, play Civ 4.
Still alive is Civ 5.
Get your kicks with Civ 6.
Gamer´s heaven in Civ 7 ?

Civ 7 be like:
Roads and railroads as in civ 1
Partisans, Economy and unit cap tied to city pop as in civ 2, plus the best complex tech tree.
Mixed armies and governments as in civ 3, plus building on mountains.
City centers as in Civ 4 (city walls give a buff to unit inside but no hp by itself)
Realistic graphic as in civ 5, plus naval combat.
Ley lines, Heroes, workers sacrifice, but may need to mantain a little more automatic, or help build roads, etc. as in civ 6
Civ 7: Squash the water, bigger rivers, early armies, no city hp, 9-10 altitude layers, sequoia giants, giant wales, roaming livestock for nomad gameplay...and less cards gameplay... maybe a little sim like where you can name citizens and have mini missions, like driving a car like simcity2000, move citizens around cities, industrial districts, hospitals strikes... would be super fun to actually get inside a 3d view at ground level...

the evolution of 4x, a mix of 4x and Rts. Civ 7 can squash HK!!

So you don't understand it because you haven't played it.

I’ll tell you a story how I’ve almost met Sid Meyer.
It was in 2017. I went to GDC, Game Developers Conference. It was my 3rd GDC, I’ve got the hang of the thing by that time, and long before the conference I found out that Sid Meyer would be giving a lecture there. That was a chance I shouldn’t have missed. Moreover, at that time I was making my civ-inspired turn-based strategy, and I wanted to show it to him.
Among other activities at the conference, which required my presence, was being at the booth of FGL, a company where I worked, and attending the Round table of Global Game Jam, a worldwide event of game developers, as I am the Regional coordinator of GGJ in the Eastern Europe.
On the day of the Round table I checked the conference schedule and found out that Sid’s lecture takes place the same day, too. However, I did not pay much attention to where and when will it be. I planned to take a closer look at the schedule after the round table, or during it.
During the GGJ meetup I with my colleagues, organizers from other countries, planned the event for 2018, discussed new formats and possibilities. And when the session time was over, I stayed in the room, continuing my conversation. Only when the next session has started, urging the remaining GGJ representatives to vacate the room, I recalled of my intention to meet Sid Meyer. So I ran out to the hall, frantically looking for the todays schedule. And then I found out that his lecture took place in a room just across the corridor, and at the same time as GGJ round table. And if I haven”t stayed in our room during the break, I’d had a chance to meet the gamedev superstar...

How is the reveal going to be made? Any plan for... well... I don't know how you'd do "spectacle" on a forum but any plans to do something out of it?

TBH, I've actually not thought about this that much. I'd have just announced it here/on the main page/Twitter, and PMed everyone regarding the details for obtaining the prize.
If someone has another idea, then please tell me.

Yeah without a live portion there isn't really many ways to make this more eventful.

I tried to think about ways to make it more but I come out with nothing

I mean I would take just a general date of announcement, that would be a start :)

"Patience grasshopper!" :)
