Hi, first of all, does someone know how to change the limit the camera can zoom in (by mousewheel, without using flying camera) or how to acomplish this (by a restricted angle for an all time activated flying camera for example!?)

Second: does someone know where to change the animation which is played while a firststrike for Melee Units, cause it looks wierd when a samurai or any other melee unit stands a mile away, doing some strange moves and the enemy dies...

Thanks in advance for any help...

In GlobalDefines.xml there is a value CAMERA_MIN_DISTANCE. Change that to some smaller number if you want to zoom in further. There are also other variables for zooming in such as CAMERA_BATTLE_ZOOM_IN_DISTANCE.

You might also want to check out my flying mod that makes it so the camera zooms in on battles when you are the defender as well as the attacker if you like watching the battles.

Well, the first quesiton was answered so I'll address the second. As far first strikes, I don't think there's anything to be done about it - the developers mostly implemented no less and no more than the features they needed, and since all units in vanilla civ4 that have a first strike are also ranged, it's not a problem. Of course, if you happen to add first strike to melee unit you end up with a guy swinging his sword half a mile away at the enemy. :) There is however a battle distance value in the art defines I believe, that's the value for how close the units come to each other during battle. So, maybe there's something that can be done with that.

I already changed the zoom in the mod. What's the distance you want to have? Right now it's 450. Editable in global defines.

Well, i think i will have to adjust scale of units to make them work as intended with the formations without having to rewrite all of the coordinates. But i still want to see all the action and lovely details of the models ;) so i will try around with that or we even include that flying mod from RogerBacon for spectacular battles (which will definitely be spectacular, at least more than in any other mod!)
