vmxa, btw, I have "vulture"'s compilation/article: "Growth and Expansion in Civilzation III". Page 12 (Fig. 1.2) shows the flattened diamond grid. I also took Fig. 3.1 (p.27) and expanded it to show distance rankings from the palace out to 20 (for help in locating a good FP site). I also experimented with Fig. 3.2 (p.27, OCP placement) and Fig. 3.3 (p.30 Rings of Ralph strategy) to come up with a hybrid that works for me.

quick question..

i currently have Civilization 3 Gold Edition, and i see alotta people talking about civs, wonders, etc that are not in my version. what exactly can i buy/download to get things like the hittites, mayas, temple aof zeus wonder, special police wonder, etc???

thanks :goodjob:

I don't know if Gold is compatible with Conquests or not. I can't see why not. You can pick up Conquests for about $10. Or you can buy Civ3:Complete, for about $20.

IIRC GOLD was just vanilla packaged with 1.29F and some other things. You can get C3C (Conquest) and install it and have all the civs in the game.

C3C includes PTW as well. You will only need to see if the CD for C3C comes with 1.22 or not. If not Dl it.

Hey guys...

It's been a good couple of years since I last played CivIII, and since I was last on these forums.

I just installed CivIII and PTW on my comp, and I was wondering what patches and utilities I should add. I have the European version. I used to use a very useful utility that seemed to do just about everything, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it! I'm not looking for all-out mods, just something to help keep track of when opponents get new techs and the like.

EDIT: Okay, it took me all of two seconds to stumble across CivAssist, which sounds mightily familiar! But any other recommendations and details of where I can get the necessary patches greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can find the patches here.

As an alternative to CivAssist II, you might use CRpSuite, which you can also find in the Utilities subforum. The Creation and Customisation forum has a lot of great mods, just have a look around there. :)

All right, this is an insanely newbie question, but that is the name of the thread, so here goes:

I just downloaded the AoI scenario, off this very site, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. I mean, it probably works, but I have no clue how to get it working.

Please help me.

Hi NesteaJunkie, and first off, welcome to CFC!

You are best off asking your question on installation and stuff in the scenario's thread, and you'll probably get an answer from the creator or anyone else that knows.

edit: Crosspost with madviking.

I think that mod is for conquests only.
A- do you have conquests?
B- do you have the latest patch for conquests?
Conquests only, eh?

Well, that would explain it...

/me feels like a stupid newbie.

EDIT: Are there any scenarios not for conquests? There must be, so where are they?

I think I'm not using the forum/thread search correctly because I don't see the "tech costs" keywords in the results it's bringing up. Anyway, I'm searching for the answer to this question:

Did the [civ3] v.1.29 patch substantially change the fundamentals of tech values or costs as it relates to: a) the value the AI places on any given tech at various times, and b) the decreasing research cost of a particular tech relative to the increase in civs which have obtained the tech ?

A link to the appropriate thread would be sufficient if you don't care to repeat an explanation already given elsewhere. Thank you.

Well, I'm not 100% sure, but take a look at this list:

Investigate City
Steal Technology
Steal World Map
Plant Spy
Steal Plans
Initiate Propaganda
Sabotage Production

I see no correlations between any of these and happiness, except for the last one perhaps?

Maybe you lost the connection to AI luxuries or a first or second wave war weariness or a combination?

Edit: sorry for the poor English...
