Note that if you use zero defence units (viz Workers or Artillery) as a coastal blockade, these can be captured "amphibiously" by non-amphibious units, just that the AI never does it.

wait a minute...are you sure? Absolutely...999,999%...positive???

Well, I don't plan on playing GotM soon, but I was just asking. :)
It's okay for HOF. At Sid Level, putting workers, catapults, warriors, whatever you've got, on each of the squares of the island will keep the AI's superior military away for a long time!! ;)

What's the best formation for an army the end of industrial era with tanks, flight, and amphibeous warfare have been discovered?

Mostly tanks. Marines aren't really needed unless you have a 1 tile city island. And a healthy amount of bombers.

The exact ration depends on the enemy force. If they're older, I would go with more tanks and less bombers, as you probably won't lose as many tanks. If they're closer to on par with you, then more bombers.

Depends upon how advanced your foes are. Sometimes the extra movement of a cav army is very useful but your best attacking unit is always the safest bet.

For some reason on a scenario I created, nobody ever declares war. They all just sit there and are "polite" pretty much no matter what happens unless I were to declare war. I assume I turned on option on/off that I didn't mean to, anybody have any ideas?

since my new copy of Vanilla CivIII did not work in my system, I gave it to a young friend and she was going to return the CD because she can play without it bring in the drive.

I can't do that on my version. What about others? Is her experience the norm?

Could you have adjusted the AI's individual aggression level to minimum in the editor?

Or perhaps AI aggression was set to Least Aggressive?

I couldn't find it in the editor, so if it's in their, mind telling me where it is? I had it set on normal when I loaded it before playing.

Can be done with a NO-cd crack, but it is against the forum rules to discuss no-cd cracks, because of its possible ties with software-piracy.

Absolutely no way is that the case here. she installed the game and she says it plays without the disk in the drive.

Maybe she only played with the disk in and just thinks it will work without the disk. I can't figure it out at all.

If I understand right, your friend borrowed the disk, then returned it and said: "i no longer need the disk, it plays fine without it."

I see 6 possibilities:
#1 She had an expansion pack, but not vanilla, only needed the vanilla disk to install vanilla and uses the expansion disk as play-disk
#2 she is mistaking and will soon return to you to ask for the disk again.
#3 she actually didn't like the game, and no longer plans to play it, but didn't want to tell you.
#4 she made a copy of the disk. (can't help you here)
#5 she downloaded a no-disk crack. (can't help you here)
#6 she knows nothing of computers and a friend of your friend installed the game plus the no-disk crack, for her.

Really close but I gave her the disk as I use my old disk with the 1.29 patch. she has not returned it but she has offered to do so.

She had never heard of the game before I gave her my New vanilla CD

possible

#3 she actually didn't like the game, and no longer plans to play it, but didn't want to tell you.

This is the most likely position but she is generally forthright about what she likes and doesn't like.

#4 she made a copy of the disk. (can't help you here)

I'm not going there either but again not needed as she had a good disk

#5 she downloaded a no-disk crack. (can't help you here)

Again, not going there but unlikely. Possible but not likely in my estimation.

#6 she knows nothing of computers and a friend of your friend installed the game plus the no-disk crack, for her.

I''m thinking maybe no on this one. She is good with computer stuff (she's the geek for her family as she is the youngest) and is not generally familiar with people who would do this sort of thing.

I hadn't thought about her not wanting the game (well duh Dar!!!) so thank you for that insight. So I am confident then that you do indeed need the disk in the drive to legally play the game.
