Could someone explain how do I launch the spaceship? The victory screen says I have all the parts completed but nothing's happening. Thanks.

Once all the parts are built - 5 casings, 3 thrusters and one of everything else the ship will launch next turn.

If I have health/food resources nearby (pig, corn, etc), should I plan to have a worker get on them as soon as I have the technology to harvest them, or should I wait longer so my city can grow a bit? Obviously everything under Sid depends on circumstances, but in general are people finding it better to build a worker right away or no?

My first worker is the first thing my 2nd city builds. My 1st city is building my 2nd settler at that time.

Hook up your bonus resources as soon as you have the tech to do so. Farming, hunting, the wheel and animal husbandry should be some of the first techs you acquire, so when 1st your worker is built you have the tech to put him to work.

I normally research hunting, agriculture, animal husbandry and pottery straight off. However being the founder of a new religion can sometimes take priority.

How do I get a Huge or Large map in Play Now! or Custom Game? I really like big maps, but when I choose Huge or Large I get a map that is only about 4 times the size of one screen - and for some reason the Persian start in GreekWorld mod/map is a really huge map but Macedonian and Roman is that same size (4 times one screen). ;) What's the trick to starting a Huge (or Large) map in either Play Now! or Custom Game? The Persian start in GreekWorld looks good, but half to four fifths of that size would be good too. =) :king:

what exactly does Nationhoods bonus (draft 3 units per turn) do?

If a military mergency arises and you need extra units fast then you can convert members of your population into military units at the rate of 3 per turn.

For huge maps go to custom game set up, select the type and size of map you want from the menu in the bottom left corner.

besides hospitals, do units regenerate faster inside a city than outside?

what's the intercept range for fighters / Jets?

I am not sure about inside the city or not, but they do heal faster when inside your boundaries.

Perhaps you're being fooled by the fact that, until you get certain technologies, or cut away the black fog more, your map only shows you a small amount of the map and zooms in so that your land takes up most of it. Keep playing those maps, and send explorers far. You should find that the further they go, the smaller your revealed area looks in comparison to the black curtain on the minimap.

Or, hit ESC and go into World Builder to check it out for yourself. Or, get calender or Stonehedge. Then you're get the more accurate view. Either way, I highly doubt your large and huge games are truly only 4 screen lengths. It's just that's what your civ thinks until it has reason to believe otherwise.

Could someone tell me what I do on the interface to rush production of a Wonder or Civ by spending Gold once I have Universal Sufferage?

Go into the city screen and look at the series of buttons down in the lower center part of the screen. There are buttons to "emphasize hammers" and such. There should be a red arrow pointing up, and if you hover over it it will tell you how much gold it will cost to rush your current build. The button will be "lit up" if you have enough gold to do it, and darkened in if you don't or you are trying to rush a project instead of a building or unit.

Does anyone know a site (or remember a particular thread) that dealt with teaching newbs (like me) about the city management screen? White circles, assigning citizens and merchants and all that. My forums search has been less than fruitful. Not looking for an indepth explanation - just a reference/link to one.

Thanks.

Does Three Gorges Dam count as a building or project

Building. You can rush it. And Mr. Bungle is an awesome band.

Sorry to be the pestering newbie - but, can anyone tell me how to set rally points? Is the feature working/not working? I'm not even sure of the mechanics.

Thanks for your help in advance

Huh? What's the difference, and can you now rush Wonders?

Okay that explains it :goodjob:, thanks. :) I was confused because most games show the whole playable area (but blacked out) and you can tell how big the total map is by scrolling around that. But I see that in Civ IV it is more intuitive and related to what your Civilization knows. And it also explains what it means when Stonehenge 'Centers the World Map'. =) Is Stonehenge the earliest way for your mini-map to show your actual position in the world, and size of the world?

Best regards,
Western Wizard.

Pretty sure it is.

Unless I'm totally mixed up, I'm almost positive I regularly rush wonders. Early ones (like Stonehedge) with Slavery and modern ones with Universal Sufferage. You can't rush projects, like the Spaceship components.

To rush wonders, you have to be able to afford it, either in population or in money. This means you have to remember to keep checking on it's progress, because the action you'll take to rush will probably only be able to afford the final 50%-10% of the workload, depending on what you can afford.

Its the 'earliest' way, but not the 'easiest'-IMHO-as it relies on you getting it first (I get it around 30-40% of the time). The easiest way possible is via Calendar but-yes-that can take awhile (if it were up to me, though, I would move it even further back down the tech tree, to a Renaissance tech).

Aussie_Lurker.

Is there a way to permanently cancel a cities production of an improvement? For example- wnen I had a number of cites producing Knights and Grenadiers became available I tried to switch from Knights to Grens. The problem was, after each Gren was finished the city went back to finishing the Knight.

Is there a way to end this?
