Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

I have a problen with the City List management screen. Every time I sort by <Hammers>, I edit the city build queue and then it reverts to the original sort again.

I would like to go through each city in Hammer order and what I need to do is this.

1) Sort via Hammers
2) Edit City
3) Sort via Hammers
4) Edit next city
5) sort via hammers
...
and so on.

When you have up to hundred cities it can be a real pain to work through. I would like to have the sort order remain on hammers, until I have completed editting all the cities in the list.

Problema: The city order is determined by join date and the array in which city information is stored is linear, that is, it goes one way. The City List management screen is not a display of this array but a call on the information, therefore, when it is sorted, it is purely for the list's sake; it doesn't change the in-game data structure. In order to hop from city to city in the fashion you described would be difficult given that its not already built into the game.

I'm not sure what you mean: However, I do remember that if I press escape from any city screen, it takes me back to the city list, which I remember remaining in its previously sorted state, at least for culture or happy icons (The ways in which I sort). Are you using a mod?

Then again, I could be entirely mistaken. It shouldn't be too hard, though, for the city information to sit there and wait for you while you enter the city screen, unless the city sort has to go back to the original order in order to enter the city screen... In which case my first statement is mistaken and the cities really ARE being resorted when you sort the list... and I have wasted a post because I am confused now... Sorry in advance. XD

I don't even enter the city screen proper, just the build queue option in the bottom. So "ESC" would not work. I just want to work down the list sorted by hammers.

PS: It is a mod - RTW

I don't think it's possible in the normal game to keep the sorted by hammers state while checking cities and going back to the list.

You could request a change in the BUG Mod. This mod is focussed on making managing the game easier while not changing the gameplay rules. It is merged into many other mods.

Ive been playing civ forever. But i just got the internet... question when i,m in multiplayer I have a hard time finding the game im trying to rejoin. Is there a command key or even a way of searching to do this?
Is there anywhere to find command keys for hosting an online game?

Really stupid question I'm afraid. I just got BtS, and when I had vanilla, I had a link in my start menu that I clicked when I wanted to play a game. Trying to do the same with BtS (I got the Civ 4/Warlords/BtS on one disc version), but can't find where it installed? Can't see anything in the start menu or in the program files and a search for pertinent terms in my whole computer doesn't lead to anything. I'm sure I'm just being stupid but I can't work it out.

For me it is C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword Note this is a sub directory of the vanilla install.

If this does niot work, then tell us how you play the game at all (if you can) and I can tell you how to find the install.

Anyone wonder why Izzy is the only spanish leader? Thinking, Ferdinand should be available, or Cortez, but he wasn't a national leader. Thoughts?

'Cos she's a plausible female leader, and I'm guessing they wanted to include all of those where they could (case in point: Boudica). If you meant more why Spain only has 1 leader instead of more, well, they had a limit on the number of leaders they could include.

True, but still, there are far more than just 1 world renowned Spanish leader.

Some Mods have added additional Spanish leaders. Wolfshanze had Philip (I think), currently LoR has El Cid (more legend than real leader, but with a cool leaderhead); I'm sure there are others.

Most n00bly question ever. How do I make a scenario?

She presided over the culmination of the Reconquista, and launched Colombus' expeditions that led to Spain being a major power for several hundred years. She isn't in the game just to be PC.

Were is the Mod?

Legends of Revolution, and other mods, can be found in the Creation and Customization section under Modpacks. There's alot of cool stuff over there.

I don't think anyone saw it, so:

Well, you'll want to edit a map in WB to prepare the scenario the way you want. When you're done with it, you save it and clean it in a word processor. There's a lot that can be done editing the file and I couldn't tell you everything because I'm pretty ignorant in that regard, but TMIT has a guide called TMIT's Guide to Strategy & Tips Series Map Creation that takes you through the basics in a very easy to read way.

There's no BtS in my Program Files directory, that I can see. The Civ 4 folder is there, but only what was already in there, I think. There is a BtS folder in My Games in Documents, but there aren't any exe files to run. Currently, I can either open the disc tray and close it again (I never take it out), or open up My Computer and click the disc to auto-run. I tried a link to the autorun.exe on the disc, but that didn't work.

I'm sure there must be a neater way to run it!

That is rather odd. You did note that the BtS directory is INSIDE the Civ 4 folder, not in the same directory as it. If you want to try searching your whole hard disk for it the file name you want is Civ4BeyondSword.exe.

Other than that I cannot help you, sorry.
