Basic game controls- in C3C how do you renegotiate peace and cancel alliances and other deals (lux for GPT for example)?

I had a MA with Greece against Persia. In details it stopped showing number of turns left so I made peace with Persia and Greece is now mad a t me. is that simply the effect of no longer having a MA or is it a sign I improperly broke the MA? Did I take a rep hit?

At the bottom of the negotiation panel, there is a button so show current deals as opposed to new ones. Then you remove the deal you wish to cancel from the box, and then you leave, and that cancels the deal.

You have to cancel the alliance explicitly as described above before you can make peace without suffering a rep hit.

The H'wacha can only trigger a Golden Age if Lethal Bombardment is turned on. If it isn't, and i don't recall for the standard rules, then no golden age for you!

Hwach'a can trigger a golden age in conquests, but not vanilla or PTW. They only have lethal bombardment in conquests.

It depends on the situation. If you see an empty enemy city with that Chasquis Scout as the Incans and you're playing on a low level. Don't waste the opportunity. Like I said, it all depends on the situation.

Is it better to attack other civs early on and through the game or just to stay defensive?

I find it's always best to have a war ASAP after the REX phase so you can basically extend your REX phase using their territory :D

Depends on the situation and which VC you are going for though. A lot of times it is best to war a civ, but not to eliminate them. Keep them around for extorting techs and gold

If you could find someone else's old save, it could work; there are plenty uploaded here and there on the site.

Can somebody fully explain War Happiness to me?

If an AI declares war on you, you get a boost to your happiness. This will be eroded by any war-weariness points you accumulate, but it's possible to benefit from WH for a long time if you don't fight a lot, or fight carefully.

It's explained in more detail here.

Hello! I recently discovered the Civ series after my brothers have been hooked on Civ 3 and 4 for years. I'm playing three and started to get a grip on the games mechanics/fundamentals. Some questions:

--How many cities should you build per each different sized map?
--How many opponents should you face per each different map?
--How many workers should you build?

[party] WELCOME TO CFC! :band:

My answers:
1. As many as possible, but with good city placement to maximize food and production.
2. The more you face, the harder the game. There isn't really an exact number
3. Generally, 1-3 per city is my rule.

The default number of civs for a std map is 8. 12 for large and 16 for huge. Not sure about smaller maps.

I only stop building cities, when I hit the limit of 512, which is only on maps of 200x200 or larger. That is 512 for the whole map. At that point no one can make a new town, till one is destroyed.

Tiny maps have 3 AI civs and small maps have 5 AI civs.
