Hi all, sorry for a newbish question, but, here it goes...

So I just created an army (with a leader and 3 Modern Tanks), but how do I attack with it??

Or if I can't attack with it, what do I do with an army??

PS Sorry if this is somewhere on the site, it wasn't in the FAQ (at least in the military section)
 
Well, once you create the army and load the units it acts like any other military unit. To attack, you move next to the unit you want to attack and move into it's square. To defend, you sit there and let them attack you. However, the AI has this thing about attacking armies. It doesn't really understand "I have 25 Calvary, and the human has one three rifleman army" and can overwhelm it. So it tends not to attack the armies. But it does happen....
 
God, I am sooooo stupid, there were no units in my army (I could've sworn I loaded it)

I disbanded a unit in a city to gain some shields. But the shields didn't come. The city had a barracks. What else is needed in order to gain the shields from a disbanded unit??

I was probably building something that couldn't be rushed, but I was just wondering what the limitations are.

You are correct: disbanding units for shields won't work for great or small wonders. It should work for any improvement. Not sure about armies, haven't tried that.
 
Armies are a regular unit, so you should be able to rush that. The palace is a normal improvement, so that should be rushable too. FP is a small wonder, and therefore unable to rush outside of a great leader.

I knew that Firaxis had made some major changes to Civ sometime after GOTM4 [ ;) ] but couldn't remember the specifics. :)

'Fraid not! I assumed that in a current modded SGOTM where leaders can't rush but can disband for 200 shields. I disbanded a leader to accelerate a Palace ... and the shields went up in smoke. :(
 
well the palace is a one time improvement since you can only build one so it shouldn't ba able to be rushed, or it should cost lots more than usual at least.
 
I have attempted to play Tet's Test of Time scenario for Russia, and find that there are no goody huts and since I start surrounded with forrests, my scout is pretty much useless. This cripples Russia to only one trait - scientific. I have never modded before, and tried to read some stuff on the customization forum, but failed to understand it without the editor in front of me (read it at work). Could someone please either direct me to a disscussion thread to post this in, or tell me how I could either access the civ's traits and change them, or change the stats for the scout, or add goody huts... I can handle the monarch level, but twice fell significantly behind on regent in this scenario! Also, could someone suggest the best way out of those three to fix the problem to keep the game in balance (I am not looking for an easy win, but not ready yet to willingly cripple myself, I just want to have fun with a balanced game).

But, no I don't turn them off, and there are plenty of them running around...

EDIT: oops, did not scroll down to see the disscussion threads, will post there now, but if anyone has a quick suggestion, please post here as well...
 
I would ask in his scenario thread. When having problems with modpacks scenarios, it's best to ask in the thread you got it from.
 
Yeah, I posted the question in the customization thread, the problem is: the scenario came with the Gold Edition, but I will look for it in the completed scenario thread.
