Planting new forests make no difference as the location of rubber is pre detemined when the game starts. Which does also mean that if you cut a forest down ealier in the game which would of had rubber in it it will still be there just on a different tile to what you would normally expect.

Hi,

Any idea why I do not get any slaves when I raze aden in this save? I cannot belive I have hit the unit limit (standard map, demi-god).

Edit - C3C, 1.22

The resources are placed at the beginning of the game, you just can't see them until you have the required tech. Even if you cleared the forest or jungle, the rubber will still be there.

It looks like you've already razed Aden in that .sav, so I really couldn't tell you. What was Aden's population before you torched it?

I have not razed it. It is the city on the west coast of the arabian penisula, I have a cav just below it blocking most of the name. It can be taken by one of the cavs on the hill 2 squares below it, and when you select "We don't want it. Raze the city" then you do not get any slaves. It is size 7.

You only get slaves if there are workers or settlers hiding in the city.

Really? I thought something like half the population was converted to workers when you raze? I haven't done much razing recently though, and don't know for sure...

I certainly didn't get any slaves when I razed a size-20+ city in COTM11, or a whole string of Celtic metros in COTM10. Sounds as if it's something that happened in Civ2 (which I've never played extensively - I got into Civ3 via SMAC/X :D )

I have been playing a few 5cc recently, so doing a lot of razeing. This is the first time in a good few tens of cities razed that I did not get half the pop as slaves. I guess I could be just lucky though.

I have read somewhere that the slaves you get when you raze an enemy city is the citizens that are not resisting if you would capture the same city. I remember I did some testing of this a while back and I think it's true. So if you are playing a game where you have low culture compared to your enemy you would get less slaves, sometimes zero. If you play with preserve random seed, you could try and capture the city and in your case there should only be resisting citizens.

Temples and Coloseums do stack as will any improvement that produces happy faces.

Even Temples and Cathedrals? Or do Cathedral replace temple?
