What gives?

Playing PTW 1.27f on Regent with Arabs. Five other civs in the game, I've met them all. Just researched Monarchy, then succesfully traded it to the Ottomans along with my World Map and $17 and got two techs (Construction and Currency) in return. Suddenly Osman goes from Polite all the way down to Annoyed. Did my poorly drawn map upset him?

Babylon also went annoyed on me when I tributed Hammurabi with the map. Sheesh, he asked for it in the first place...

Your trading partner just went into anarchy when you offered a gov tech (you may check this on F3).
Your gov type and AI's gov type are compared to add (or substract) from the attitude counter. Refer to Bamspeedy's Attitude article in the War Academy for details.

Btw, there'd be another framed box around the actually produced item if he let the governor decide about production projects (the latter is a big no-no, though).

When you switch techs (whilst in mid-research), then you do not carry over any beakers from the research of that technology. You effectively start from scrap on yer new one. But you can go back to the tech you changed from later on, and you'll still be at the same place in research that you left off on You also get a discount on that technology when trading for it with the AI...

When trading, yes. The discount varies depending on how many beakers you have researched of the tech...
