1. That's the "global warming" indicator, caused by pollution.
2. You have to create an army first, hit that button! iirc you have to be in a city as well.

2) I got a second leader but I can't upload any unit in order to create an army ( I had no problem with the first one).
:)

You have to have at least 8 cities

Thanks for your answers, guys !

But:
Yes, I do have more than 8 cities.
My first army was created outside a city ( if I do re-call correctly... I'll give it a try).

Tell me if I'm wrong:
Once you have a great leader ( Grant, Lee, etc..), you only need to bring the units on the same square and hit "upload" and that's it, right ?

No, you need to use the GL to make an Army. I'm pretty sure that can only be done in a city. Once the Army is made, you can then load the units. I'm pretty sure that the Army does not need to be in a city to load units.

You are right as you can also use your leader to rush improvements.

Yes. Be very careful you don't rush that worker that's going to be completed the next turn! I did that once. I think it was a temple or something, but it only needed another turn or so to finish. I wasn't very happy.

Yeah right ! I remember now.
You first have to make that choice when the GL is in a city.
Thanks.

is it possible to add some music files that would be played during the game?

I think I read somewhere that you have to rename the current music files. Then copy your music files in using the original file names. In other words your music must have the same name as the original music files.

Custom and creation is probably the best place to find out; as silver 2039 says.

That's right, a great leader or great military leader (in conquests) has to be in a city to become an army, but after that any musterable unit on the same square can "load" on as long as there's room.

I have noticed at some point culture producing improvements double their culture production per turn.

e.g. a temple is 2 culture per turn & a library 3. But look at your earliest temples and libraries in 1500AD and you will see them producing 4 and 6 culture per turn.

Does anyone know when/how this culture doubling kicks in?

I play CivIII vanilla. Is there any way to see
- how many turns before trade/alliances expire?
- additional civ leaders on the foreign advisor screen in a game with more than opponents than fit on one screen?

Trades/Alliances generally last 20 turns. They can continue longer if noone cancels them.

My notes say <shift - right click on a leader head> to view additional leaders. The one you click on will be replaced by the next in line.

In the F4 screen:
1. Click on a Leader's head
2. Click on "We'd like to propose a deal"
3. Click on "Active" at bottom of screen....this will show you what you have agreed with this civ and how many turns (in parentheses) are left per agreement

In F4 screen, shift-right-click on a Leader......this will show you the other civs in a drop-down box. :)

P.s. Do people from Houston think alike at the same time or what?

Me again!

If every other nation (that you fight, at least) has horses and you don't, what can you do? Without fast units, my swordspeople ;) and longbows seem little more than fodder, with little chance of ever entering the stables...

PS I'm playing Egyptian, so I can't use my early chariot advantage either. Oh, and BTW, I'm not playing Conquests (I'm not even sure what it is yet).

Well Queenie, first, WELCOME to the CFC site. :goodjob:

Glad to see you're playing Egyptians....a GREAT TRIBE, at least for me in my Warlord & Monarch Level Hall Of Fame Games. (Downloadable at the HOF Forum.)

Now, your question is a tough one and I don't have an easy answer.......the only answer I have, and there are plenty of enlightened people on this site, is to make a bee-line for the nearest horse to your capital with as many units and carry a spare worker (OR better, a settler). You'll need to build a road along the way. (To link ALL your cities to the horse....so they can all build War Chariots!) When you get there, build a colony or city on the horse. :)

If you're gonna play as Egypt, you've gotta have War Chariots! ;)

P.s. Conquests is an add-on version of Civ 3, just like the previous add-on was Play The World......you still have to have the basic Civ 3 (sometimes referred to as Vanilla Civ) to play an add-on. :)

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah, I know the basics :smug:. I just couldn't get to any horses quick enough (it would have to have been by galley). So I've waited out until longbowmen, hoping that would mean I could crush the Germans and access their horses, only by that time the Romans are on the rampage with their knights, and my swords and longbows just can't compete. So I'm kinda looking for crafty ways round, so I can still CRUSH the Romans! Looks unfeasible though?

Quite pleased with my start on Monarchy level, though. Might even have a go at the downloadable games...

In the C3C Manual, it says "spies" are a new unit. It says nothing more about them, and I can't find them in the game. Where are they and what do they do?
