You can always use Alt+Tab to get to other applications, or pressing the start kep also works.

Oh, remember to add the line 'KeepRes=1' in your civ.ini file to run civ in the same resolution as you desktop. :)

I do not understand scientists in PTW 1.29. When you convert a worker into scientist what does it do? I tried and there seemed to be no effect on science gains (lab Beakers in city display). Thanx

You'll get one "unit" of science per turn for every scientist.

If you have enough scientists, the number of turns required to research a technology will be reduced. (Minimum is 4 turns.)

If you want to discover an advanced technology on the "cheap", set the science slider to zero and have ONE scientist.....your technology will be discovered in 40 turns! ;)

You might get less science "units" by using scientists though as that citizen could work a tile instead and produce more than 1 "unit" of science. Scientists are not subject to corruption though, so they make sense in remote highly corrupt cities.

I tend to use scientists in the following situations :
1) When I'm doing minimum ([civ3]/[ptw]=40 turns, [c3c]=50 turns) research, set science to 0% and use a single scientist.
2) When doing max research I use scientists in highly corrupt cities.

I can't turn off Domination Victory... I've won three games through Domination, all three with "Domination Victory" unchecked at the beginning. What can I do?

when it's turned off, it's gray, when it's blue it's on

Only just started using the editor and already have trouble... I have a map and I want to play with Germany, starting at a specific point. So I delete one of the given starting locations and make my wanted point a starting location, then assign ownership of that square to Germany and save the map. But when I start a game on that map with Germany, it places me at a randomly picked place. What am I missing?

Edit: Talking about Conquests.

Instead of making the square belong to Germany, make it belong to Player 1. This should have you start in the correct spot.

So in the end I can't set starting locations for all civs, only for the human player?

Edit: And I just tried it with Player 1, still gives me a random starting position. :(

Serpice, please check that the number of Civ on your started game is the same as on your generated map.

is there another starting location that has player 1 or germany assigned?

All other starting locations are makred "Any start", didn't change anything about them except for deleting one of them and adding the one in the place I want. Set the number of civs for this scenario to 31 and set all 30 opponents to random when I start the game. Can't think of anything I've done wrong. :(

Please take a look if it works for you...

Hmm, I remember some weeks ago I had the same problem when I tried the editor once, but I finally started out in the place I wanted... don't know what I did different then, maybe I just got lucky and had that spot picked at random for me.

Edit: The little island in the upper right corner.

Hmm. . .just d/l'd it, worked fine for me. C3C v1.12. I can attach the Regent level save. . .

Perhaps you have two versions of the file, and are loading the wrong one? This happened to me once, drove me crazy until I figured it out.
