Is there a summary of the cost of each technology? Is there a way to know what a fair price should be when trading tech?

I've also noticed that the more gold I have, the more other civs ask for tech when dealing. Imagination, or did the tech cost go up coincidentally with my prosperity?

Regards.

I was in the first third of the modern era and absolutely awash in gold. With all units upgraded, and the tech and happiness sliders set, I has 25000 gold and 1000 per turn.

What to do with all the gold?

Buy tech? Any tech worth buying was being sold for 25000 and 400 per turn. No civ would make any deal that seem reasonable. No civ would sell me aluminum for any price.

I was behind most of the game, but finally with all the gold and heavily defended cities (and no wonders) I just cruised to a somewhat unsatisfiying diplomatic victory.

Regards.

If you don't have a U.N. election when the popup occurs can you have one later? How? Or, if the election is not held, is the U.N. just another wonder?

Regards.

I am sure you will get lots of ideas, but how about -

Part rush stuff. So in a city that produces 30 spt, you rush a Infantry after 1 turn then change to MA and get that next turn.
Buy civs into war/embargo with others, but you won with Diplomatic, so I guess you know that.
Give civs gifts to keep them sweet.
Steel techs, but watch for declarations of war.

Markus5: The UN election option comes the year it's built and then every 11 turns after that. I'm not sure if having the UN city change owners changes the cycle or not. As for the mound of cash, before stealing any tech, you might want to get an MPP with the biggest couple of AI, hopefully one between you and the AI you hope to steal tech from that way if the do declare, they can't get to you without going through your big brother.

How do you clean up rubble from former cities?

Just do any improvement there (road, mine etc.) It has no effect on the game anyway.

Thanks :). Stupid AI keeps building cities near an trophey arch (what is it for anyway?). I have all quares around it in rubble and it makes me unhappy :).

Are you playing a conquest? Are you talking about a victory point location? You get victory points for having them in your cultural borders (or somethign like that, I hardly ever play the conquests).

I have a quesation. Can you start your golden age by attacking a worker with your UU?

A unit has to end the turn on a victory point location to get points for that turn.

A UU must engage in a real battle.

UU victories must be over an AI unit with defensive ability, barbarians don't count. I don't know if a F-15 air superiority win counts in this, however most people have already had their GA by the time the Modern Era arrives.

Is there a way to name landmarks like in Civ 3?

I think there is, but don't know how. In an earlier GOTM (20 I think) a couple of tiles had regional names (Andalusia & Pampas, I seem to recall). Is that what you mean?

Yeah! I remeber one about Byzantine empire :). I wish I knew how to do this...

Once a resource such as rubber or oil appears on the map, will more of it appear later, or is that all you get? Currently I have over a third of a continent (large map), have no oil or rubber. Engand and France have both a considerable distance. They want my first born to trade.
I can trade for the rest of the game, go to war, or wait if more will appear. Is hoping for more just wishful thinking?

Probably, although it certainlt is possible.

You're probably better off just going and getting some of your own, if it is at all feasable.

Rubber (iirc) never disappears - so there's no chance of an existing source going away and popping up in your territory.

Oil, though, is a different matter. Every turn, each source of Oil that is connected up has a random chance of disappearing and then re-appearing in a suitable location (desert, tundra, etc.) So if you're very lucky, some might just come your way.

Sounds like you have a decent chunk of territory, though... so go to war!

Neil.

It doesn't matter if it's hooked up.

Go ahead and pay to trade for rubber, then upgrade/build a ton of troops and go take it!

That's the spirit!

Remember though, you may want to divert a few towns to building bombers too. A bombed enemy is a softer enemy.
