Overall it's looking good. AI manages economy well, but a fe tactical war problems:

1: WAY OVERBUILDS Caravels as war vessels...

2: IGNORES my privateers and lets me interdict sea traffic far too easily. Vanilla AI was much rougher on my Privateers than BBAI currently is. I've had one ship blockading (ALONE) an American and another lone ship blockading Musa's mainland coast for over 30 turns before the AI decided to send out one of its ships to strike me down. But it HAD over 10 ships capable of doing the job in port ALL THOSE TURNS. EEK! Sad...

Settings are on regular AI (not aggressive, but still...)

The problem with Vanilla AI was that it was too eager to sacrifice Caravels and Galleons against Privateers, with the result that it was easy to get free experience while crippling the AI's production.

Attacking Privateers with Caravels and Galleons is a losing battle in terms of hammers. It's probably better to leave them be until you (or another civ) can flush them out with Frigates or Airships.

Hm. Mansa had a frigate or two.

The US had only Caravels, so OK. But... 2 of those can quite often take out a lone privateer... The AI is playing so conservatively in this mod lately it's weird- it's like it's so used to players playing with such superiority it's lost site of how to play a more average player and just craps itself in fear.

I made all sorts of mistakes in my last game and the AI didn't jump on things because... what, it thought I was laying a trap for it and hesitated? This AI was much more challenging back about version 0.4 or so. For the first time ever without even trying I was the world's only superpower by 1600 at Prince level. I usually play Noble level and find that a challenge... but so far with v0.82 the AI is just... well really sad.

I can't put my finger on just what it is to it, but it's like a lover who overthinks.. just shut up and F&^% you know?

ah well...
