Quick Questions and Answers

I have a couple of questions about the Domination victory. Which I will explain via scenarios.

Scenario 1: My original capital gets captured. About 10 turns later I reclaim my capital. Does reclaiming my capital put me be back into the Domination race? Or does that victory condition no longer applies, because I lost it the first time?

Scenario 2: One of the AI Civs is completely wiped out by another civ. I come in and liberate the original Capital. Can that liberated go for the Domination Victory again. And if so, why does the AI controlled Civs get a second chance to play. While we human players get an automatic Game Over Screen?

hi everyone. So i tried to make my own map with the world builder so i put all my resources and whatnot in it and then went to the game to play. When i tried to build a mine over my resources it would give me less resources instead of more (eg. when i started the game i had 0 aluminum, when i built a mine over my aluminum i had -15 aluminum.) Does anyone have a solution???

Sorry, I don't really know.

First question: I believe it does put you back into the race. The one who wins the Domination VC is the last one still in control of their capital, if I'm correct. So retaking your capital prevents their Domination VC.

Second question: I guess they could try for a Domination VC again, if that's what you mean. But it would be hard to imagine a civ that weak coming back to win a Domination Victory.

Yeah, humans don't get another chance. Maybe the devs thought that would be too hard a thing to implement, seeing as probably the only way that could happen for a human player would be to let the game autoplay in hopes that some AI would liberate you.

That could prove to make a pretty interesting scenario too. Maybe someone will make a mod for it.

Bringing back an AI with their original capitol not only lets them try for domination, but also requires you to re-conquer said capitol if YOU want to win by domination. Generally better to liberate a non-capitol city to keep your options open, if you really want to bring someone back from the dead.

If you have the appropriate DLC, play the Korea scenario. Korea, there, is never eliminated even if they lose all their cities, and keep getting guerrilla units to help their Chinese ally kick the Japanese off the peninsula. Quite fun.

Do custom maps count as mods for the in game HOF?

I ask because if you install a map via steam workshop, you would logically access it via the mod menu, despite it not actually changing the gameplay.

After all, you can load maps you saved in game via the save map feature from a previous game.

For a unit model, how many tris should I aim for for a gun that a unit wields?

Is an embarked unit considered to be land or naval, for attacking bonuses by planes?

In G&K they are definitely considered naval units for attack bonuses, as all embarked units can defend now. Pre-G&K I recall it being rather wonky, and I'm not sure what may have changed in recent patches. IIRC, embarked units were considered non-combat units: instakilled by naval units moving onto their tile and, oddly enough, bombardment by air units. They took a flat 4/10 damage from any other form of bombardment.

Thank you.

Anyone able to help me out on my Asari civ in the creation section? It appears to be dead there and all we need is someone who can help us figure out why it wont load.

What does approval stand for on the demographics page?

Approval is a reflection of your empire's happiness level. I'm not 100% sure how it's determined, but I think at 0 :c5happy: it's 50% approval. As another data point, my current game has 100% approval, with +275 :c5happy: over 86 cities if that helps any :D

Should the Great Barrier Reef be affected by a harbor/lighthouse/Colossus or whatever wonder increases gold output?

Just bought Civ 5 along with G & K expansion.

Loving it, despite the anachronisms, but I would really like a real world map with accurate faction start positions.

I tried searching, but did not come up with anything obvious.

Which is the best mod for this, please?

TIA :goodjob:

Balla.

I haven't tried it, but from what I've heard it's good.

I have a simple question.

What does the AI say if you both chose Autocracy? e.g. if you both choose Order the AI goes on about 5-years plan and if you both choose freedom the AI goes on about warm salutations. But what about Autocracy? I have never seen it because AIs that choose Autocracy always hate me to hell.

A little ways into the opening post of this thread, it shows an AI saying something about the player having autocracy.

Why is there no problems flagging in my logs? My civ isn't selectable in game but I can't fix it because my logs are flagging no problems. How do I fix this?
